Dozens Of Underwater Drones Deployed To The Waters Of Iran

By Peter Murray | August 11, 2012 | Singularity Hub

Facing sanctions, Iran has once again threatened to choke off the Strait of Hormuz, the only way into and out of the Gulf for oil tankers.

What to do when international talks begin falling apart? Send a fleet of unmanned submersibles in preparation for a waterway showdown. As US talks with Iran over their nuclear program began to sour and the possibility of sanctions against the country rose, Iran responded by threatening to cut off the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow waterway and the only way into and out of the petroleum-rich Persian Gulf. The US responded in turn, the LA Times reports, by sending dozens of SeaFox unmanned submersibles to the region to seek out and destroy mines in the strait.

Each SeaFox is outfitted with an underwater television camera, homing sonar, an explosive charge, and is controlled through an optic fiber tether. None of the submersibles, however, return from a successful mission as they end, not only with the destruction of the mine, but the craft itself, each costing about $100,000. The SeaFox can sniff out both submerged and surface mines.

The Next Election: High Stake Outcomes Based on Non-issues

By Paul Craig Roberts | August 11, 2012 | Institute for Political Economy

The election of the next puppet president of the “world’s only superpower” is about two and one-half months off, and what are the campaign issues? There aren’t any worthy of the name.

Romney won’t release his tax returns, despite the fact that release is a customary and expected act. Either the non-release is a strategy to suck in Democrats to make the election issue allegations that Romney is another mega-rich guy who doesn’t pay taxes, only to have the issue collapse with a late release that shows enormous taxes paid, or Romney’s tax returns, as a candidate who advocates lower taxes for the rich, don’t bear scrutiny.

What are Romney’s issues? The candidate says that his first act will be to repeal Obamacare, a program that Romney himself first enacted as governor of Massachusetts. This will cost Romney political contributions from the insurance industry, which is thankful for the 50 million new private insurance policies that Obamacare, written not by Obama but by the private insurance companies, provides at public expense. It is not to the insurance industry’s benefit to have a single payer system like other western countries.

Romney’s other issue is to blame Obama for America’s unemployment caused by the offshoring of the US economy by Republican corporate CEOs. In order to enhance their compensation packages, the Republican CEOs sent millions of America’s best jobs to India, China and elsewhere. The lower cost of labor in these offshore sites means much higher earnings, which drives up share prices for shareholders and drives up performance bonuses for management, while wrecking US employment, GDP growth and tax base and driving up the deficit in the balance of payments.

Israel’s ‘You Built It’ Culture

By Daniel Greenfield | August 7, 2012 | FrontPageMag.Com

When Mitt Romney arrived in Jerusalem and suggested that Israel’s success contrasted with its Muslim neighbors was due to a culture of success, he was waving a red flag in front of a red bull. Romney’s comments were as provocative to the left as Obama’s  “You didn’t build that” remark was to us.

To the left, success has become the Mark of Cain. Where success once used to be proof of good character, the balance has shifted and it is now proof of bad character. The left blames all disparities on injustice. If A has less than B, then B has somehow discriminated against A. All that’s left is for the sociologists and critical race theorists to plug in the variables, write their papers and explain the mechanism for the injustice and how it can be remedied through centralized redistribution.

This is the era of “You didn’t build that” where achievement is inherently unfair and an object of guilt. To succeed is to steal. Anyone who has achieved more than those around him has unfairly taken from them. And the more he succeeds, the more he has to feel guilty about and the more he must atone through social justice.

Introducing the Gulf State Despots: 10 Facts about Saudi Arabia

By Tony Cartalucci | August 9, 2012 | Land Destroyer Report

Astounding hypocrisy, self-censorship, and complicity by the West regarding one of the most regressive regimes on Earth.

August 9, 2012 –  The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) comprises of 6 nations, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. In principle, Kuwait and Bahrain are considered “constitutional monarchs,” in practice, all 6 are despotic autocracies with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman overtly “absolute monarchs.” Devoid of even a feigned semblance of representative governance, these regimes brutally repress not only their own subjects, but play active roles in repressing the people of other nations, both on their borders and well beyond them. The Titanics of 2012 [Cartoon]

‘The Titanics of 2012’ Currently featured on the GrrrGraphics blog

The Titanic tragedy has spawned a lot of metaphors for essays and cartoons alike. I decided to draw one myself to illustrate multiple situations that are steaming toward tragedy and since one ship wasn’t enough, I drew many. They all seem intent on striking that iceberg.

1. Debt. Our debt money system benefits only a few bankers at the top. Everyone else gets poor and suffers higher taxes, lost pensions and austerity as a result. The banker-owned MSM is painting austerity as a good thing–of course!

Standing Against Left-Wing Fascists in Stockholm

By Pamela Geller | August 7, 2012 | WND

Exclusive: Pamela Geller reports on violence at anti-Islamic-supremacism event

Last Saturday heralded the dawning of a new era of cooperation between pro-freedom groups in Europe, the United States, Australia and elsewhere. Freedom fighters from around the world converged in Stockholm to stand with one voice against oppression, tyranny and fascism, rallying for free speech and human rights against Islamic supremacism and leftist tyranny.

The left-fascist thugs were out in force: Police at one point found a suspicious package from the leftists and examined it out of concern that it was a bomb. It turned out to be a large firecracker, but clearly the left-fascist who left it wanted police to think it was a bomb and to create an atmosphere of menace and terror so people would be too frightened to attend our event.

Swedish police in riot gear cordoned off the area of our rally on both sides and blocked entrance to it with police vans. But while the leftist media, which swarmed around our event like jackals, will tell you that we are the threat, the police had to face violence only from the leftist protesters. Desperate that our message of freedom not be heard, they blew vuvuzelas, screamed bloody murder, chanted “EDL go to hell” and kept up a constant din – while throwing eggs and firecrackers at the police and at any pro-freedom activist who got too close to them. One firecracker exploded in a policeman’s face; he had to be taken away in an ambulance.

State Department Purges Religious Freedom Section from Its Human Rights Reports

By Pete Winn | June 7, 2012 | CNS News

Stop Murdering Christians in Egypt

AP photo

( – The U.S. State Department removed the sections covering religious freedom from the Country Reports on Human Rights that it released on May 24, three months past the statutory deadline Congress set for the release of these reports.

The new human rights reports–purged of the sections that discuss the status of religious freedom in each of the countries covered–are also the human rights reports that include the period that covered the Arab Spring and its aftermath.

Thus, the reports do not provide in-depth coverage of what has happened to Christians and other religious minorities in predominantly Muslim countries in the Middle East that saw the rise of revolutionary movements in 2011 in which Islamist forces played an instrumental role.

For the first time ever, the State Department simply eliminated the section of religious freedom in its reports covering 2011 and instead referred the public to the 2010 International Religious Freedom Report – a full two years behind the times – or to the annual report of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), which was released last September and covers events in 2010 but not 2011.

The Mass Killing No One Talked About

By Jack Cashill | August 8, 2012 | WND

Exclusive: Jack Cashill spotlights illegal-alien incident media downplayed

Two weeks ago, I appeared, as I do occasionally, on a regional PBS show called “Kansas City Week in Review.” As one of four panelists from the local media, and the only conservative, I so altered the discussion on “immigration” that even our quick-witted host was left without words.

At the 2:05 mark of this video, I introduced an unexpected variation on the illegal-immigration theme. “The biggest mass killing this past weekend did not take place in Aurora, Colorado,” I told them. “It took place in Goliad, Texas.”

The other panelists looked at me as if I were crazy, which at least a few of them think I am. For that matter, I imagine most readers of this article don’t know what I am talking about.

Here is what happened. On July 22, less than 48 hours after the Colorado shooting, a Mexican coyote lost control of his Ford F-250 pick-up truck at high speed on Highway 59 outside of Goliad and killed 14 of the 22 Central Americans on board. Most had been laid out on the truck bed like sardines.

The driver, 22-year-old Ricardo Mendoza-Pineda, died in the crash as well. As the responders discovered the hard way, he was the only person on the truck with ID, in his case a driver’s license from the Mexican state of Tamaulipas.

A Map to the Muslim Middle East

By Daniel Greenfield | August 7, 2012 | Sultan Knish

The Muslim Middle East has three types of governments. Military, Tribal and Ideological. A military government is formed when senior officers take power. A tribal government is based around a group of prominent families. An ideological government is based around a party, whether secular or Islamist. All these governments are tyrannies, though they may occasionally hold elections, they never open up the system. The elections serve as a means for passing from one tyranny to the next.

While these types of governments are different in some ways, they are not exclusive. Most overlap in a number of ways.

Military and ideological governments will become tribal as a few officers, leaders or Ayatollahs use their control of the economy to enrich themselves and their families. That is what happened in Egypt and in Iran. The Muslim Brotherhood differs from Mubarak in any number of political ways, but on a personal level, its leaders share his goal of enriching their families.

Whether a new government starts out as Islamist, Fascist or Socialist; these facades inevitably revert to the tribal. That is the fate of all governments in the Muslim Middle East, which do not evolve, but devolve.

As Congress Acts, Obama Silent on EU Carbon Tax Scheme

By Capitol Confidential | August 5, 2012 | Breitbart News

The European Union is ambitious, at least when it comes to taxing. In a new tax on carbon emissions set to take effect on January 1, the EU will tax U.S. airlines for carbon emissions while flying over the United States, so long as that flight departs from or lands in Europe. That is a wide power grab from nations who unambiguously have “complete and exclusive sovereignty over airspace above its territory,” according to international law.

The information comes from the 2011 NCTC Report on Terrorism, which is based on information available as of March 12, 2012.

“Sunni extremists accounted for the greatest number of terrorist attacks and fatalities for the third consecutive year,” the report says. “More than 5,700 incidents were attributed to Sunni extremists, accounting for nearly 56 percent of all attacks and about 70 percent of all fatalities.”

The report says that in 2011, a total of 10,283 terrorism attacks across the world killed 12,533 people. Terrorism also is blamed for 25,903 injuries and 5,554 kidnappings.

According to NCTC, of the 12,533 terrorism-related deaths worldwide, 8,886 were perpetrated by “Sunni extremists,” 1,926 by “secular/political/anarchist” groups, 1,519 by “unknown” factions, 170 by a category described as “other”, and 77 by “Neo-Nazi/Fascist/White Supremacist” groups.

FBI Admits Pentagon Dinner Guest al-Awlaki Worked for Them [Video]

By Kurt Nimmo | August 2, 2012 | Infowars.Com

Pentagon dinner guest and Osama bin Laden fill-in Anwar al-Awlaki was in FBI custody but the agency let him go, FBI assistant director Mark Giuliano has told the House Appropriations Committee. The incident occurred in October, 2002, at the JFK airport. The American born cleric was a top CIA target and named a serious threat by the head of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service at the time.

Former FBI agents explained that the release was likely because the agency wanted to track him or work with him as a contact. A more likely explanation is that al-Awlaki worked as an operative for the agency.

Anwar al-Awlaki was allegedly killed in October of 2011 by a CIA Predator drone in Yemen. The following year, he supposedly called for biological attacks on America from the grave.

Report: Russia Moves Nuclear Missiles to Cuba

By Paul Joseph Watson | August 2, 2012 | Infowars.Com

Cuban missile crisis part two?

A report out of Pravda quotes President Vladimir Putin as saying that Russia has moved strategic nuclear missiles to Cuba in response to the United States’ continuing efforts to encircle Russia in Eastern Europe.

The article, written by Lyuba Lulko, explains how Russia is reviving its military operations in Vietnam, Cuba and the Seychelles.

In October 2001, President Vladimir Putin announced that the Lourdes radio-electronic center on the island had been shut down as a “gift” to President George W. Bush on the basis of promises given by Bush that the U.S. missile defense system would never be deployed in Eastern Europe.

However, with the missile defense system under the auspices of NATO now reaching “interim operational capability” in Europe at the end of May, that promise has been shattered.

Romney Lays It Out: Progress and Success Versus Name-Calling And Bragging About Being Victims

By Barry Rubin  | August 1, 2012 | PJ Media

There are some broad and important political issues raised by a minor flap concerning presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s visit to Israel. To look at these questions in a detached and honest way can tell us a lot about the future of the world and of U.S. policy.

The controversy began when Romney said at a meeting with donors:

As you come here and you see the GDP per capita, for instance, in Israel which is about $21,000 dollars, and compare that with the GDP per capita just across the areas managed by the Palestinian Authority, which is more like $10,000 per capita, you notice such a dramatically stark difference in economic vitality.

Romney said the economic history of the world has shown that “culture makes all the difference.”

Palestinian leaders complained, saying that this showed Romney was racist and out of touch with the realities of the Middle East. Actually, their reaction showed that they are counterproductive leaders who are out of touch with the realities of the Middle East and human history.

The basis of the complaint is two-fold:

First, is a reference to culture in some way “racist” and why is Israel so far ahead of the Palestinians?

Racism refers to a belief that some people are inherently and biologically inferior. Consequently, nothing that they do can alter their inevitable backwardness.

New book alleges Obama delayed Bin Laden decision 3 times before strike

By Rick Moran | July 30, 2012 | American Thinker

A new book by investigative reporter Richard Miniter alleges that President Obama canceled the raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound three times before finally giving the go ahead for the mission.

Each time, the president canceled on the advice of his trusted aide Valerie Jarrett.

Daily Caller:

In “Leading From Behind: The Reluctant President and the Advisors Who Decide for Him,” Richard Miniter writes that Obama canceled the “kill” mission in January 2011, again in February, and a third time in March. Obama’s close adviser Valerie Jarrett persuaded him to hold off each time, according to the book.

Miniter, a two-time New York Times best-selling author, cites an unnamed source with Joint Special Operations Command who had direct knowledge of the operation and its planning.

Obama administration officials also said after the raid that the president had delayed giving the order to kill the arch-terrorist the day before the operation was carried out, in what turned out to be his fourth moment of indecision. At the time, the White House blamed the delay on unfavorable weather conditions near bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

CAIR’s Information Momentum Warfare

By Cynthia E. Ayers  | July 29, 2012 | American Thinker

There have recently been demands by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR — twice named an unindicted co-conspirator in the proceedings of federal terrorism trials) on the Department of Defense to drop Reza Kahlili (pseudonym) — a former CIA spy within the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and the most credible and accurate source of information and intelligence training regarding the current Iranian regime — as a lecturer for the Department of Defense.  Almost simultaneously, CAIR singled out Congresswoman Michele Bachmann in protest over the legitimate concerns raised by Representative Bachmann and four other members of Congress (Rep. Louie Gohmert, Rep. Trent Franks, Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, and Rep. Tom Rooney) about undue influence and possible infiltration of U.S. government entities by individuals with adversarial linkages.  These complaints indicate a bold rise in the level of personal attacks lodged by CAIR and other Muslim Brotherhood organizations.

It’s rather easy to target people who risked their own and family members’ lives, while operating within one of the most tyrannical regimes in history.  And quite astonishing that CAIR should use Mr. Kahlili’s conversion to Christianity as the main argument against him!  Are they attempting to strip Mr. Kahlili of his rights as a U.S. citizen as well as his ability to provide expertise that is currently so vital to our nation’s defense?  Or is CAIR using this complaint as a means to threaten his life because he dared to convert?

It’s also an incredible achievement when those who consort with or are linked in close relationships to individuals and organizations that openly call for the downfall of Western civilization are not only provided with high-level positions and the professional respect that accompanies such employment within the U.S. government (occasionally at the expense of those who express concerns), but also protected against any challenges from elected members of Congress by the challengers’ own colleagues!

Colonel Mark Fassl, who testified Tuesday, said he was shocked when Lt. Gen. William Caldwell cited the then-upcoming 2010 congressional elections as the reason not to investigate the hospital.

The general reportedly said at the time: “How could we … make this request with elections coming? He calls me Bill.”

Huma Abedin and the Muslim Brotherhood: Closely Connected

By Andrew C. McCarthy | July 24, 2012 | PJ Media

Senator John McCain ought to be embarrassed. So should House Speaker John Boehner and Congressman Mike Rogers, the former FBI agent who chairs the Select Committee on Intelligence.

These pillars of the Republican establishment have been championing the cause of Huma Abedin, the deputy chief of staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Ms. Abedin’s name arose, along with several others, in connection with questions pressed by five conservative House Republicans regarding Muslim Brotherhood infiltration of the United States government. The GOP establishment, led by McCain, Boehner, and Rogers, has been slamming Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, one of the five House conservatives, over her refusal to back down from concerns over Ms. Abedin.

Here are four things, among many, that we now know:

1. Huma Abedin’s mother, Dr. Saleha S. Mahmood Abedin (hereafter, Saleha Abedin), is an influential member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s division for women, the  Muslim Sisterhood. She is also a zealous advocate of sharia law’s oppression of women — which McCain himself condemned in a 2011 interview with Der Spiegel.

2. Not only that: Saleha Abedin is a board member of the International Islamic Council for Dawa and Relief. The IICDR has been long banned in Israel for supporting Hamas. It is also part of the Union for Good, which is a formally designated international terrorist organization under federal law. The Union for Good is led by Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the chief sharia jurist of the Muslim Brotherhood. He is the world’s most influential Islamic cleric, and has issued fatwas endorsing suicide bombings against Israel and terrorist attacks against American forces in Iraq.

The Michele Bachmann Witch Hunt

The Republican establishment has long kept Michele Bachmann at arm’s length and the exploitation of her simple inquiry into foreign policy matters (along with Louie Gohmert, Tom Rooney, Trent Franks, and Lynn Westmorland) is just another example. What’s worse: they seem eager to work in tandem with the media to help push along the overdramatic and purposeful mischaracterization of the group’s inquiry — and set their sights specifically on Bachmann.

Press Release: House Members Seek National Security Answers from Inspectors General [Document Links]

Contact: Becky Rogness 202-225-2331 | June 13, 2012 | Bachmann.House.Gov

Today, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (MN-06) and Congressmen Trent Franks (AZ-02), Louie Gohmert (TX-01), Tom Rooney (FL-16) and Lynn Westmoreland (GA-03) sent letters to the Inspectors General of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice and the Department of State. These letters seek answers about the U.S. government’s involvement with the Muslim Brotherhood, a group that calls for “civilization jihad.”

In the letter, Bachmann, Franks, Gohmert, Rooney and Westmoreland questioned the Inspectors General about the direct influence within the intelligence community of Muslim Brotherhood operatives. They explained that the U.S. government in federal court has established that the group’s mission in the U.S. is “destroying the Western civilization from within.” The members went on to request that the respective offices of the Inspectors General conduct a formal investigation or evaluation of the extent to which Muslim Brotherhood-tied individuals or entities are involved.

“The national security of our country depends on getting straight answers from the Inspectors General to the questions we posed in these letters,” said Bachmann. “The Muslim Brotherhood is not shy about their call for jihad against the United States. We seek answers through these letters because we will not tolerate this group and its affiliates holding positions of power in our government or influencing our nation’s leaders.”

Britain’s Firearm Ban Coming to America? [Video]

By Kurt Nimmo | July 23, 2012 |

Sen. Dianne Feinstein has demonstrated how the gun-grabbers work incrementally to chip away the Second Amendment.

Appearing on Fox News Sunday, the California Democrat who worked to outlaw semi-automatic firearms in the 1990s during the reign of Clinton said the government should have a monopoly on large capacity magazines.

“I believe people use these weapons because they can get them, she said.  “I believe that a revolver, a rifle, a shotgun isn’t going to do the damage. It’s the big clips. It’s 100 rounds, You can not get to him to dislodge the gun because he can fire so rapidly and has so many bullets.  Why do you need this?”

You can see where this line of reasoning is heading. By the time Feinstein and Chuckie Schumer and the rest of the government gun-grabbers are finished pea-shooters will be illegal.

Semi-automatic and pump-action shotguns were banned in Britain following the massacre in Hungerford, Berks, in August 1987. (See video below.)

In Fight Against Domestic Terror, DC Establishment Attacks the Real Enemy: Michele Bachmann

By Virgil | July 23, 2012 | Breitbart News

The State Department official is accused of being connected to a vast foreign conspiracy, hostile to America.  The official denies it, as the Establishment rallies around the accused official. Indeed, Establishmentarians not only dismiss any possibility of the official’s guilt or complicity, but they also ferociously denounce those who raise the possibility. After all, the official is a part of the in-group; it just isn’t possible to think that the official could do anything wrong. The Establishment is thus united around the proposition that the accused official is a good person, and that the accusers are bad people. And anyone who deviates from that orthodoxy risks being thrown out of the Georgetown-to-Manhattan golden circle of status and respectability.

Until now, when a case from the United Kingdom has proven so egregious it could not be ignored.

Hillary Aide Tied to Al-Qaida Front

Bachmann’s letter missed what could be most troubling connection

120720abedinhillaryJERUSALEM – Charges made in a 16-page letter by Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., against longtime Clinton aide Huma Abedin miss what may be one of the most troubling radical connections – Abedin’s family is directly tied to the Muslim World League.

The Muslim World League is an Islamic charity known to have spawned terrorist groups, including one declared by the U.S. government to be an official al-Qaida front.

In her now well-publicized letter,Bachmann noted that Huma’s father, Professor Syed Abiden, was the founder of the Institute for Minority Affairs, a Saudi group that “had the quiet but active support” of Umar Abdallah Nasif, the secretary general of the Muslim World League.

However, WND was first to report an even more direct connection to the terror-stained charity – Huma’s mother, Saleha Abedin, was the official representative of the Muslim World League in the 1990s. [Read more…]

11 International Agreements That Are Nails In The Coffin Of The Petrodollar

By Michael Snyder | July 17, 2012 | The Economic Collapse Blog

Is the petrodollar dead?  Well, not yet, but the nails are being hammered into the coffin even as you read this.  For decades, most of the nations of the world have used the U.S. dollar to buy oil and to trade with each other.  In essence, the U.S. dollar has been acting as a true global currency.  Virtually every country on the face of the earth has needed big piles of U.S. dollars for international trade.  This has ensured a huge demand for U.S. dollars and U.S. government debt.  This demand for dollars has kept prices and interest rates low, and it has given the U.S. government an incredible amount of power and leverage around the globe.  Right now, U.S. dollars make up more than 60 percent of all foreign currency reserves in the world.  But times are changing.  Over the past couple of years there has been a whole bunch of international agreements that have made the U.S. dollar less important in international trade.  The mainstream media in the United States has been strangely quiet about all of these agreements, but the truth is that they are setting the stage for a fundamental shift in the way that trade is conducted around the globe.  When the petrodollar dies, it is going to have an absolutely devastating impact on the U.S. economy.  Sadly, most Americans are totally clueless regarding what is about to happen to the dollar.

Big Brother Australia Looking to Monitor Full Spectrum Communications

By Nicholas West | July 13, 2012 | Activist Post

The most expansive set of surveillance powers since the attacks of 2001 are set to be rolled out in Australia unless there is overwhelming public resistance.

The new proposals are being issued by the intelligence community itself, and involve collecting data on every Australian’s telephone conversations and Internet usage, then storing it for two years.

In tandem with data collection and storage, Australia’s intelligence community wants more access to social media in a sweeping overhaul to current restrictions that is reminiscent of America’s move under its own comprehensive media monitoring initiative.

The subject of data retention is being hotly debated by governments around the world as the respective intelligence agencies are claiming that they need the freedom to keep up with the latest technologies such as cloud computing, social media applications, and Internet communications apps. There are currently at least 10 locations around the world that have proposed data collection and retention initiatives, while Germany, Italy, Denmark, UK, Slovakia, and Serbia have officially implemented programs that include, but are not limited to: [Read more…]
