Memo to NBC: What the hell is wrong with you?

By Deacon Greg Kandra | June 19, 2012 | The Deacon’s Bench

Seriously.

First, there was the Trayvon Martin boondoggle a few months ago.

Then yesterday, evidence of some creative editing regarding Mitt Romney’s visit to a Wawa in Pennsylvania.

Today, we have Andrea Mitchell’s spectacularly lame followup to “criticism of the Romney clip edit” — which amounted to Ms. Mitchell saying, with a sigh and a frown, “Oh, bother.  Fine.  Here’s what we left out.”   She failed to acknowledge what the “criticism” entailed; she neglected to point out how the editing misrepresented the event being covered; and she offered nothing resembling an apology or an admission of responsibility for something that was, as a matter of fact, irresponsible.

Obama is Losing Racial Politics Game [Video]

By Rush Limbaugh | June 22, 2012 | RushLimbaugh.com

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Do you remember, ladies and gentlemen, last November I made a big deal of something? And I remain surprised. I can’t believe… And I really mean this. I can’t believe that this was not focused on more. Not by the mainstream media but rather by conservative media. This was a column by Thomas B. Edsall who used to write for the Washington Post and is now big at the Huffing and Puffington Post. And he had a piece in the New York Times, which means the regime wanted it there.

He works for Obama in a way. There’s a tie-in. And the piece, if you’re a regular listener here you’ve heard me reference it many times, but it’s stayed in its own vacuum. The piece was a tantamount admission that the Obama campaign had written off the working-white-voters block. They’ve just written them off. They were the bitter clingers. They knew, back in November, that they were not going to compete for them. They’re not even going to campaign for the white, working voters of America.

Obama’s need for “Executive Privilege”

By Doug Hagmann | June 20, 2012 | Canada Free Press

“What did the President know and when did he know it?” –former senator Howard Baker about Richard Nixon during the Watergate hearings

It is interesting that it was exactly forty years ago this week that five “burglars” were caught inside the Watergate complex, setting off one of the most notorious presidential scandals in U.S. history. The events of June 17, 1972, resulted in the resignation of U.S. President Richard Nixon just over two years later. During that two years, the press was aggressive in its coverage and investigation, while the White House denied any involvement with, connection to, or knowledge of the incident.

During the two years following the arrests of the men caught inside the Watergate complex and until the White House could no longer suppress evidence behind the claims of “executive privilege,” the press and congressional investigators were relentless in determining “what Nixon knew and when he knew it.” How times have changed. Michelle Malkin’s Online Revolution Frustrates Juan Williams

By John Nolte | June 14, 2012 | Breitbart News

Unfortunately for Juan Williams, hissy fits don’t budge facts. Not even hissy fits on a top cable news program like “Hannity” (see the video embedded below). Of course, Michelle Malkin is a reporter. And do you want to know who else is? James O’Keefe, Hannah Giles, Joel Pollak, Michael Patrick Leahy, and so many others that just thought of what they’re up against makes the corrupt media wet themselves.

Why the Media Hates and Fears the Super PACs

By John Nolte | June 12, 2012 | Breitbart News

To begin with, you can’t look at the mainstream media as a biased or out-of-touch entity. Instead, you have to look at the media for what it really is: a gaggle of left-wing operatives disguised as journalists who use objectivity and a near-monopoly to control the news and information-narrative all in an effort to damage the Right and promote the Left.

The Road to Recall: One Left-Wing Loss After Another in Wisconsin

By Joel B. Pollak | June 1, 2012 | Breitbart News

Tuesday’s recall election in Wisconsin is the culmination of a long political campaign waged by the left to reverse the results of the watershed 2010 election, and to prevent reforms that might be imitated elsewhere. These included: tax cuts for job-creating businesses, spending reductions to turn deficits into surplus, and collective bargaining reforms that freed state and local governments from the onerous cost of union benefits.

Breitbart News: Media Ties Romney to Trump, Ignores Obama-Sharpton Connection

By John Nolte | May 29, 2012 | Breitbart News

As I mentioned in my piece this morning examining the organized narrative the media built over the weekend to aid Obama and damage Romney, the primary push was going to be to tie Romney to Donald Trump. Because Trump is still pushing the discredited “birther” conspiracy surrounding Obama’s place of birth, the corrupt media feels it can hurt our likely GOP nominee by either tying him to a “racist extremist” or by threatening him with this distraction until he backs down and repudiates Trump.

Exclusive: The Vetting – Barack Obama, the First Tea Partier

By John Sexton | May 23, 2012 | Breitbart News

In 2009, President Barack Obama reportedly called members of the Tea Party “teabaggers.” It turns out that our fourth greatest president, first in so many things, may have been the first “teabagger” himself, as seen in the 1997 photograph above. Yes, that really is Barack Obama wearing a regimental coat and carrying a tricorn hat in his hand. And that flag behind him really is a Gadsden flag, with its serpent and its “Don’t Tread On Me” slogan. You may want to let all of this sink in a bit, especially if you’re a Tea Party-bashing progressive.

Neither Democrats nor the media have been particularly kind to the Tea Party. There is hardly space to go through all the times the Tea Party has been compared to terrorists (including by the Vice President) or fascists, or the many times it has been accused of racism by progressives in supposedly mainstream news outlets. That’s a book-length story of its own.

But given the photo above, it is certainly a good time to think back upon some of the ridicule Tea Party members were forced to endure for evoking the Revolutionary War era by their dress and choice of symbols.

Is GOP Headed for Ash Heap of History?

By Patrick J. Buchanan | May 17, 2012 | WND

Pat Buchanan applies latest racial data to realities of Republican Party policies

Among the more controversial chapters in “Suicide of a Superpower,” my book published last fall, was the one titled, “The End of White America.”

It dealt with the demographic decline of the white majority and what it portends for education, the U.S. economy, politics and national unity.

That book and chapter proved the proximate cause of my departure from MSNBC, where the network president declared that subjects such as these are inappropriate for “the national dialogue.”

Apparently, the mainstream media are reassessing that.

For, in rare unanimity, the New York Times, the Washington Post and USA Today all led yesterday with the same story.

“Whites Account for Under Half of Births in U.S.,” blared the Times headline. “Minority Babies Majority in U.S.,” echoed the Post. “Minorities Are Now a Majority of Births,” proclaimed USA Today.

Naomi Schaefer Riley: The Academic Mob Rules

By Naomi Schaefer Riley | May 8, 2012 | Wall Street Journal

Instead of encouraging wide discussion, the Chronicle of Higher Education fires a blogger.

Recently, the Chronicle of Higher Education published a cover story called “Black Studies: ‘Swaggering Into the Future,'” in which the reporter described how “young black-studies scholars . . . are less consumed than their predecessors with the need to validate the field or explain why they are pursuing doctorates in their discipline.” The “5 Up-and-Coming Ph.D. Candidates” described in the piece’s sidebar “are rewriting the history of race.” While the article suggested some are skeptical of black studies as a discipline, the reporter neglected to quote anyone who is.

Like me. So last week, on the Chronicle’s “Brainstorm” blog (where I was paid to be a regular contributor), I suggested that the dissertation topics of the graduate students mentioned were obscure at best and “a collection of left-wing victimization claptrap,” at worst.

MSNBC: Don’t Expose Muslim Atrocities

By Colin Flaherty | May 22, 2012 | WND

Harvard professor doesn’t want ‘fuel’ against Islam revealed

Burqa32MSNBC’s new golden girl was in a pickle: If someone sees a black person committing rape or domestic violence, should he report it if it makes black people look bad?

Or if Muslims see wife-beating, genital mutilation and childhood sexual abuse, should they just keep it to themselves, because saying something gives ammunition to the “Islamophobes”?

The questions appear to be simple. But they posed a challenge for the host of the new “Melissa Harris-Perry” show when guest Mona Eltahawy talked about her Foreign Policy magazine cover story about abuse of women by men in the Muslim world.

Eltahawy speaks from experience: She had her arms broken in a demonstration in Egypt and was tortured and raped in an Egyptian jail cell.

So she seemed surprised to find Harris-Perry questioning her right to draw attention to “traditions” such as involuntary female circumcision, wife-beating and childhood sexual abuse.

Why the Left Dropped the Trayvon Story

By Rush Limbaugh | May 16, 2012 | RushLimbaugh.com

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Developments in the Trayvon Martin case, and you’d be hard-pressed to find these developments out there.  There have been two dramatic developments in the Trayvon Martin shooting case.  According to ABC News, George Zimmerman’s family doctor saw him the morning after the shooting of Trayvon Martin.  Here’s what George Zimmerman’s doctor found: A broken nose, two black eyes, bruises on his face and lip, two cuts on the back of his head, and a back injury.

The NBC affiliate in Florida is reporting that the medical director who performed the autopsy on Trayvon Martin found only two injuries on his body:  the gunshot wound and broken skin on his knuckles.  Welcome to the Duke lacrosse case all over again.  Everything Zimmerman said about what happened to him turns out to be true after the media trying to cast him along with the civil rights coalitions of this country, the race-baiters, as abject lies. (interruption) What do you mean, not rush to judgment?  It’s been two months.  I’m not speculating.  I’m telling you what the doctor said.  There’s no speculation going on.  The doctor is not speculating.  The doctor did the exam the day after the incident happened.  It’s all been suppressed.  Nobody’s reported it.  That’s the point.  And there wasn’t even any media curiosity about it.

Now, I’m not a forensic scientist, and I don’t guess on matters like this. I don’t have to guess; the facts are here.  It’s kind of hard not to connect the dots.  Now, all of this information is coming out.  You know why it’s coming out?  Because we’re in the discovery phase of the Zimmerman trial, where each side has to show the other side what evidence they have.  But you really have to wonder here, folks, why none of this came out before in the prosecutor’s charging affidavit.  Can we go back to that?  The charging affidavit, which, remember Dershowitz at Harvard said it was an embarrassment that wouldn’t survive the first inspection by a judge, but it did.  But he said it was pathetic, it was unprofessional.

I happened to report what Dershowitz said and my own affiliate in Jacksonville called the attorney’s office, “What do you think about what Limbaugh said about your charging document?”  None of this is in the charging document, or the affidavit.  I thought that the state was obligated, or obliged, anyway, to provide all the relevant details in a case to the judge, but apparently I was mistaken.  But, anyway, as I said, ladies and gentlemen, the news media seem to be ignoring these developments.  I mean they’re out there, touched on a little bit by ABC.  But the news that I just gave you has barely been mentioned on the cable news channels.  I don’t watch it, but I’m told that MSNBC only got around to reporting this about an hour ago, and they ran a banner at the bottom of the screen that said, “Proof of self-defense?  Trayvon Martin family lawyer calls medical report suspicious.”

So the doctor puts out a report, Zimmerman’s doctor, and now MSNBC is saying he might be a liar.  And they have to because they gotta cover their own rear ends the way they reported this. (interruption) I don’t know if Zimmerman’s doctor is a white Hispanic, Mr. Snerdley.  But you really have to wonder here when the news media began to lose interest in the Trayvon Martin story, ’cause you know they did.  They lost interest.  They were going 150 miles an hour on this story, and then all of a sudden they dropped it like a hot potato, and you have to wonder why they did that.  Was it when they found out that George Zimmerman is actually Hispanic and a Democrat to boot?  Was it when Trayvon Martin’s gangsta-like tweets surfaced along with the more recent photos of him with his gold teeth?  Maybe the news media is just afraid of whipping up racial… no, they do like to whip up racial strife.  But they didn’t even proceed under that rubric.  They just dropped this case like a hot potato.

War on Women? Poll Shows Romney Leads Obama Among Female Voters

By Rush Limbaugh | May 15, 2012 | RushLimbaugh.com

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: The New York Times/CBS poll is so bad for Obama.  They are really worried in the White House, and it’s not new.  They have been worried for a long time.  This is not the first CBS/New York Times poll that has bad news for Obama.  People have forgotten, two months ago, on the same day, the Washington Post and New York Times both came out with polls, and Obama was at 41% approval in one of them, and he was not doing well with women I think in the Washington Post poll two months ago.  And this was right in the middle of the contrived War on Women.  And it wasn’t working.

The gay marriage thing isn’t working.  Just 7% of the American people, of likely voters, see gay marriage as a top issue in November.  He’s raising money with it, but he’s not garnering support.  He’s losing support over this.  He’s losing support everywhere.  There is serious talk now about getting Biden off the ticket and replacing him.  The reelect campaign is not at all going the way the professionals, the Obama administration thought it was going to go.  And there is genuine discord and upset within all levels of the campaign.  Now, you’re starting to see in various places in the Drive-By Media, they can’t hide this anymore, they can’t even paper over it very well.In fact, the New York Times story today on their own poll is so bad that the White House is saying it’s biased, that the sample is not correct.  The White House is ripping their own House organ poll today.  If the New York Times poll is as bad as they’re reporting, the odds are it’s much worse than that.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: You talk about campaign problems.  Obama has had two times the number of fundraisers that George Bush had at this time, and he didn’t raise anywhere near as much money.  Obama has done twice the fundraisers as the hated and the reviled George W. Bush, and he hasn’t raised anywhere near as much money as Bush has.  Now, today’s New York Times/CBS poll is bad.  But there’s something in it that even CBS and the New York Times are burying.  It turns out buried in the numbers is the fact not only is Romney ahead of Obama by three points across the board — oh.  Let me interrupt myself.  I don’t have it in front of me.  I forget where I saw it.  It was over the weekend.  I’ve been cramming show prep. I didn’t get any done yesterday. I was up until three in the morning when I got home last night prepping the program today, and I can’t remember where I saw this, but it was an Electoral College tabulation with Romney over 300 electoral votes, as it looks now.

Now, it’s the only place I’ve seen that, and I can’t recall where it was.  It’s an analysis of current polling data.  It’s not somebody’s wild guess; it’s not somebody’s expressed hope.  But it is right along the lines what Dick Morris is saying that Romney could win in a landslide.  I have said that I think it’s possible that Romney could win big just using common sense and looking at how everything is falling apart for Obama.  I’ll go through a list of some things here in just a second that will remind you just how bad things are for Obama.  But in this New York Times poll, which the Obama White House now says is biased, Romney is up by three.  But if you dig deep, buried in the numbers that the New York Times/CBS doesn’t report, Romney is leading Obama among women 49-43, after the contrived War on Women, after the contrived Sandra Fluke thing, after all of these efforts that have been expended to make Obama look like the first female president, the first gay president, the first Jewish president, and they’re doing all of that, by the way.

Digging Up Dirt on the President’s Enemies List

By Kimberley A. Strassel | May 10, 2012 | Wall Street Journal

First a Romney supporter was named on an Obama campaign website. That was followed by the slimy trolling into a citizen’s private life.

Here’s what happens when the president of the United States publicly targets a private citizen for the crime of supporting his opponent.

Frank VanderSloot is the CEO of Melaleuca Inc. The 63-year-old has run that wellness-products company for 26 years out of tiny Idaho Falls, Idaho. Last August, Mr. VanderSloot gave $1 million to Restore Our Future, the Super PAC that supports Mitt Romney.

Three weeks ago, an Obama campaign website, “Keeping GOP Honest,” took the extraordinary step of publicly naming and assailing eight private citizens backing Mr. Romney. Titled “Behind the curtain: a brief history of Romney’s donors,” the post accused the eight of being “wealthy individuals with less-than-reputable records.” Mr. VanderSloot was one of the eight, smeared particularly as being “litigious, combative and a bitter foe of the gay rights movement.”

About a week after that post, a man named Michael Wolf contacted the Bonneville County Courthouse in Idaho Falls in search of court records regarding Mr. VanderSloot. Specifically, Mr. Wolf wanted all the documents dealing with Mr. VanderSloot’s divorces, as well as a case involving a dispute with a former Melaleuca employee.

Mr. Wolf sent a fax to the clerk’s office—which I have obtained—listing four cases he was after. He would later send a second fax, asking for three further court cases dealing with either Melaleuca or Mr. VanderSloot. Mr. Wolf listed only his name and a private cellphone number.

Some digging revealed that Mr. Wolf was, until a few months ago, a law clerk on the Democratic side of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. He’s found new work. The ID written out at the top of his faxes identified them as coming from “Glenn Simpson.” That’s the name of a former Wall Street Journal reporter who in 2009 founded a D.C. company that performs private investigative work.

The website for that company, Fusion GPS, describes itself as providing “strategic intelligence,” with expertise in areas like “politics.” That’s a polite way of saying “opposition research.”

When I called Fusion’s main number and asked to speak to Michael Wolf, a man said Mr. Wolf wasn’t in the office that day but he’d be in this coming Monday. When I reached Mr. Wolf on his private cell, he confirmed he had until recently worked at the Senate.

When I asked what his interest was in Mr. VanderSloot’s divorce records, he hesitated, then said he didn’t want to talk about that. When I asked what his relationship was with Fusion, he hesitated again and said he had “no comment.” “It’s a legal thing,” he added.

Fusion dodged my calls, so I couldn’t ask who was paying it to troll through Mr. VanderSloot’s divorce records. Mr. Simpson finally sent an email stating: “Frank VanderSloot is a figure of interest in the debate over civil rights for gay Americans. As his own record on gay issues amply demonstrates, he is a legitimate subject of public records research into his lengthy history of legal disputes.”

The Forwardism Disease [Video]

By Daniel Greenfield | May 01, 2012 | Sultan Knish

The Obama slogan for 2012 is in and it’s “Forward”, which is a compact version of that old classic, “Don’t change horses in the middle of a stream” that every incumbent is forced to run on sooner or later. Forward implies that there’s no alternative but to go backward, which is a place that no right-thinking person wants to go.

The left has always been enamored of “Forwardism” or “Progressivism” which mean much the same thing. Before MSNBC had Lean Forward, Mao had the Great Leap Forward which killed some 40 million people, far more people than MSNBC can ever dream of tuning in to their programs.

When Lenin wanted to launch his own newspaper, he called it, “Vperod” or Forward. The name still lingers on among the left and appears on the mastheads of newspapers across the world. It’s Vorwarts in Germany, Voorwarts in the Netherlands and Ila al-Amam in the Arab world. Back in New York it’s The Forward, the venerable blotting paper of the Jewish left.

There are any number of left-wing political parties who have already named themselves “Forward”, including the Forward Communist Party of India, Kadima, the left-wing opposition party in Israel, and Vperod, a Russian political party that split off from the Socialist Resistance on account of the latter not being radical enough.

Picking “Forward” as his campaign slogan puts Obama in good company with the likes of Lenin and Mao, and it sounds positive until you stop and realize that it’s meant more as an order than a suggestion. There’s a reason most leftist newspapers with that name add an exclamation mark at the end of it. It’s not a proposal, it’s a command. Lean forward, march forward, live forward and then die forward. We’ve burned the bridges, run up the deficit and trashed the economy so there’s no going back.

An old Soviet era joke told the story of the wife of a Communist leader who upon hearing that her husband had developed a progressive paralysis, clapped her hands and exclaimed that at least it was progressive. That is the underlying message of “Forward” to voters, the country may be paralyzed, but at least it’s a progressive paralysis which leaves us unable to move our heads and stop leaning forward while the Entertainer in Chief croons to us about the wonderful world to come.

That may be why it remains a popular campaign slogan among desperate left of center candidates. When Adlai Stevenson, dean of the liberal eggheads, ran in 1952, the campaign buttons read, “Forward with Stevenson”. The country chose to go backward instead with Eisenhower winning by a landslide.

Tony Blair ran for his third term under the slogan, “Britain, forward, not back”, which despite its clumsiness did conclusively explain that”Forward” as a campaign slogan means there’s no going back. However Blair forgot to tell voters that this referred to his immigration policy which helped create Broken Britain.

In this forward-thinking Britain, the police are being trained to look for signs of sorcery among immigrants after children have been murdered on suspicion that they might be witches. The last woman to be executed on witchcraft charges in the area was back in 1727, but now the UK is back in the witch hunting business or the hunting witchhunters business as the case may be. That’s not to mention the Islamic female genital mutilation business, which is also booming as part of Britain’s forward march into the 7th century.

Had Blair been a touch more honest, the slogan would have been, “Britain, so forward, it’s backward.” Much like having a mind so open your brains fall out, that is one of the dangers of being so forward, going so far ahead you end up in the middle of the Arabian desert praising absolute monarchies and slave states like Qatar as beacons of freedom and democracy, while your police hunt witchhunters and the mutilators of little girls.

In Australia, Julia Gillard rolled out “Moving Forward”, explaining that the slogan fit because Australians are an optimistic forward-looking people. Which they had to be as their country had suffered the worst economic decline in twenty years. When things are that bad, you might as well look forward and find something to be optimistic about.

The Grenadan Revolution had its own forward thinking slogans like “Who Controls the Minds of the People Have the Power” and “Forward Ever, Backward Never”. Sadly the revolution ended up going backward when the reactionary running dog capitalists overthrew the Cuban backed revolutionaries and robbed them of control over the minds of the people.

The Obama campaign has largely adopted both Grenadan slogans, but its control over the minds of the people may prove to be as tenuous as that of the People’s Revolutionary Army did over Grenada. The backward view is surprisingly appealing even to Obama supporters who can’t help remembering that there used to be more jobs and more money before the Hope and Change revolution.

Romney might ask you if you are better off now than you were four years ago, but Obama will tell you to forget the past and look forward to the eternal future that is always peeking over the horizon. The mirage of the progressive world of tomorrow which we can reach over a pile of dead senior citizens, energy saving lightbulbs and multicultural coloring books.

The very use of “Forward” as a slogan summons up a century’s worth of socialist ghosts that they are blind to. But recognizing that would require looking backward, which forward thinking people do not do.

Motivated By Media Lies About George Zimmerman, A Hate Crime Occurs in Chicago

By John Nolte | April 26, 2012 | Breitbart

We’re learning today that in Obama’s Chicago, 18 year-old Alton L. Hayes has just been charged by police with “attempted robbery and aggravated battery along with a hate crime” for attacking and robbing a 19 year-old man.  Hayes is black, the victim is white, and Hayes told investigators “he was angry about the [Trayvon] Martin shooting and decided to attack the victim because of his race.”

Now why would Hayes do this? For starters, Zimmerman is Hispanic, not Caucasian. Secondly, there’s absolutely zero proof Zimmerman was racially motivated to shoot Martin. In fact, an overwhelming amount of evidence suggests race had nothing to do with it.

My guess is that if Hayes is telling the truth about his sinister motives, he’s been watching too much CNN, MSNBC, NBC, and ABC. After all, those are the media outlets guilty, in some cases, of outright racial fabrication in their zeal to aid Barack Obama’s re-election campaign by falsely attributing racism to Mr. Zimmerman’s motives.

The bottom line is that if Hayes’ professed motive for attacking another man is based on lies told over and over and over again by Obama’s Media Palace Guards.

For those of us who monitor the corrupt media, the Trayvon Martin story was on our radars as a media phenomenon. But what confirmed the political motive was when our divisive, polarizing President gave his media minions the green-light to go all-in after he cynically made the shooting of an unarmed Florida teenager all about race (“My son would look like Trayvon“).

Florida is a must-win swing state for the President and turnout is where his fortunes will live or die. Ginning up the base brings voters to the polls and nothing gins up Democrat voters like a good old-fashioned racial firestorm. And because the media’s in bed with Barack Obama, a racial firestorm (based on misinformation) is what we got.

First came the media’s obvious disappointment over the fact that the alleged shooter, a man with the name “Zimmerman,” was neither Caucasian nor Jewish. Never ones to let facts get in the way of a witch hunt (remember Tucson), the media solved that little factual problem by making up an entirely new racial category for Zimmerman: “white Hispanic.” Like our President, one of Zimmerman’s parents is white, and yet we never hear Obama described as a “white African-American.”

But of course we don’t. That wouldn’t fit the narrative. But in order to cast this story in the kind of light necessary to make enough voters angry to tip Florida Obama’s way, Zimmerman cannot simply be Hispanic because that’s another voting bloc Obama desperately needs to win the state.

The Narrative Beast was still hungry, though, and required constant feeding. Not only must Obama’s Media Palace Guards in some way make Zimmerman white, he must also be turned into a  — duh, duh-duhnnn — racist! And it was in this department that the sycophant media sold what was left of their souls.

To kick things off, before ABC News examined surveillance tape with the full technology available to them, the network released a half-baked and rushed examination of the tape with this hysterical headline:

What If George Zimmerman Were Black: Liberals Think They’ve Found the Answer in Georgia

By  | April 25, 2012 | The Blaze

“If Trayvon Martin had been white and George Zimmerman had been black, would we feel the same way?”For many people, this question has been a persistently troubling one in the aftermath of George Zimmerman’s shooting of Trayvon Martin and the racially charged media circus that has resulted from it. And leaving aside the fact that Zimmerman is hispanic, many liberal leaning bloggers, Salon’s Rania Khalek and MSNBC’s Melissa Harris Perry foremost among them, think they’ve found a test case that shows precisely this implied double standard at work.Meet John McNeil, the man who some are calling “the black George Zimmerman”:

Is Convicted Murderer John McNeils Case a Racially Reversed Parallel to George Zimmermans Actions in the Trayvon Martin Case?

McNeil is currently serving a life sentence for shooting Brian Epp, a young white construction worker, in a case with admittedly eerie factual similarities to the Martin case. Or at least, similarities that are eerie if you take the Left‘s bloggers’ word on it. Here‘s Salon’s description:

It all began in early 2005, when McNeil and his wife, Anita, hired Brian Epp’s construction company to build a new house in Cobb County, Ga. The McNeils testified that Epp was difficult to work with, which led to heated confrontations. They eventually decided to close on the house early to rid their lives of Epp, whom they found increasingly threatening. At the closing, both parties agreed that Epp would have 10 days to complete the work, after which he would stay away from the property, but he failed to keep up his end of the bargain.

On Dec. 6, 2005, John McNeil’s 15-year-old son, La’Ron, notified his dad over the phone that a man he didn’t recognize was lurking in the backyard. When La’Ron told the man to leave, an argument broke out. McNeil was still on the phone and immediately recognized Epp’s voice. According to La’Ron’s testimony, Epp pointed a folding utility knife at La’Ron’s face and said, “[w]hy don’t you make me leave?” at which point McNeil told his son to go inside and wait while he called 911 and headed home.

According to McNeil’s testimony, when he pulled up to his house, Epp was next door grabbing something from his truck and stuffing it in his pocket. McNeil quickly grabbed his gun from the glove compartment in plain view of Epp who was coming at him “fast.” McNeil jumped out of the car and fired a warning shot at the ground insisting that Epp back off. Instead of retreating, Epp charged at McNeil while reaching for his pocket, so McNeil fired again, this time fatally striking Epp in the head. (Epp was found to have a folding knife in his pocket, although it was shut.)

Making the story even more convenient for those citing it as a parallel to the Martin case, Georgia apparently both has a “Stand Your Ground” law similar to Florida’s and subscribes to the “Castle doctrine” that allows deadly force in defense of one’s own property. So if McNeil is behind bars, Zimmerman should be too, or if Zimmerman is let go, so should McNeil be, right? Not so fast. Unlike the Zimmerman/Martin case, which has yet to go to an official trial, the McNeil case left an ample legal paper trail to follow showing precisely why McNeil’s self-defense claim didn’t work. Readers are invited to form their own conclusions – the truth has no agenda – but for the sake of accuracy, here are a few of the facts that the Salon/MSNBC account leaves out:

‘Grand Wizard:’ More NBC Race-Baiting Under Steve Capus’s Watch

By John Nolte | April 24, 2012 | Breitbart

Not that we needed another example, but once again we have one more NBC “star” telegraphing to the world the poisonous leadership style Steve Capus has brought to the NBC Network.

Capus is the President of NBC News and MSNBC. According to the NBC/Universal Website, Capus is also the network’s “arbiter of issues involving ethics, style, standards, safety and other matters that affect the Division’s journalistic bearing.”

Which of course is pure nonsense.

At NBC News there simply are no standards or ethics, only an environment fostered by Capus that continually allows for the worst kind of divisive race-baiting we’ve seen in decades. And this cynical political maneuver that’s become a part of NBC’s DNA and identity, is a purely partisan tactical move designed only to keep Obama’s base angry and eager to vote against the “Grand Wizards” in the Republican party.

Yesterday, on the increasing execrable “Hardball,” the increasingly hateful Chris Matthews became the latest member of NBC News to connect the term “Grand Wizard” to the Republican Party (see the video below). If you remember, back in November, David Gregory, host of “Meet the Press” did the same.

This is no accident. It’s the planting of seeds using both subtext and text.

When is Race Important in Violent Deaths?

Staff Report | April 23, 2012 | WND

Question not even allowed at White House briefing

Jay Carney

Special-interest groups have injected the issue of race heavily into the high-profile Florida death of Trayvon Martin and the pending trial for suspect George Zimmerman. In fact, a recent poll revealed 6 of 10 say “race activists” are exploiting the tragedy.

But there apparently will be no more comment from the White House on the trend, as Press Secretary Jay Carney declined to allow Les Kinsolving, WND’s correspondent at the White House and the second-most senior reporter on the beat, to inquire.

At the daily briefing today, nearly two dozen reporters were not allowed to ask any questions, including Kinsolving. Instead, CNN was given seven and CBS and Fox six each.

Kinsolving wanted to ask if the president had any response to columnist Walter Williams’ recent revelation about how race is an issue only some of the time.

“Does the president have any response to Dr. Williams’ as he did about the death of Trayvon Martin?” Kinsolving wanted to ask. He also wanted to seek comment about a Kansas City child who was murdered by attackers who said, “You get what you deserve, white boy.”

The columnist talked about a Tulsa, Okla., case where “a white couple suffered a home invasion by Tyrone Woodfork, a 20-year-old black man. Ninety-year-old Bob Strait suffered a broken jaw and broken ribs in the attack. His 85-year-old wife, Nancy, was sexually assaulted and battered to death..”

Williams, whose writing focused on media dishonesty and race hustlers, also explained in Kansas City, Mo., “two black … youths doused a 13-year-old boy in gasoline and set him on fire, telling him, ‘You get what you deserve, white boy.’”

He also cited a Knoxville, Tenn., case where “a young white couple was kidnapped by four blacks. The girl was forced to witness her boyfriend’s rape, torture and subsequent murder before she was raped, tortured and murdered.”

“None of those black-on-white atrocities made anywhere near the news the Trayvon Martin case made, and it’s deliberate,” Williams wrote. “Editors for the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times and the Chicago Tribune admitted to deliberately censoring information about black crime for political reasons….”

Barack Obama, meanwhile, was among the first to link the Martin case to race, saying even as the case developed that if he’d had a son, he’d look like Martin.

Williams noted the violence is itself a tragedy.

“Even if the president and his liberal allies in the media and assorted civil rights hustlers don’t care much about blacks murdering whites, what about blacks murdering blacks?” he noted. “During a mid-March weekend in Chicago, 49 people were shot, 10 fatally, including a 6-year-old black girl, making for more than 100 murders this year. Philadelphia isn’t far behind, with murders clipping along at one a day since the beginning of 2012.”

He said only white-on-black crime fits the political narrative at hand, and so only that gets attention.

Forgerygate: Ignoring Arpaio’s Report is a Scandal in Itself

By Jeffrey T. Kuhner | March 15, 2012 | Washington Times

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio announces preliminary findings of his investigation into the authenticity of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate during a March 1 news conference in Phoenix, Ariz.

Is President Obama’s birth certificate a forgery? Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz., believes it is. He recently held a press conference in Phoenix to discuss the findings of a new 10-page report. Mr. Arpaio’s investigators have come to a stunning conclusion: The long-form birth certificate Mr. Obama released last year is a “computer-generated forgery.”

With the exception of The Washington Times, however, no major U.S. media outlet reported this bombshell story. The liberal press corps is desperately trying to suppress any discussion of Forgerygate — potentially one of the biggest scandals in American history. The media class is betraying its fundamental mission to pursue the truth.

“Based on all of the evidence presented and investigated, I cannot in good faith report to you that these documents are authentic,” Sheriff Arpaio said. “My investigators believe that the long-form birth certificate was manufactured electronically and that it did not originate in paper format as claimed by the White House.”

The Washington Times story, written by Stephen Dinan, points out that Mr. Arpaio has called for Congress to investigate the matter. Think about this: A high-profile sheriff orders a team of former law enforcement officials to examine whether the president is truly a natural born citizen and that he has the constitutional and legal right to occupy the White House. Their official report is that Mr. Obama’s documents are shoddy and he likely engaged in deliberate fraud. And yet, most of the American press corps doesn’t believe this is an important news story? The liberal media has become rotten to the core.

Ironically, the foreign press reported widely on the story. For example, Pravda — that’s right, the former official organ of the Soviet Communist Party — did an extensive analysis of Mr. Arpaio’s findings. The article by Dianna Cotter asks the obvious question: What are U.S. journalists afraid of?

The answer is that the issue strikes at the heart of Mr. Obama’s administration: If his presidency is illegal, then all of his accomplishments — the stimulus, Obamacare, the contraceptive mandate, the government takeover of the auto sector and appointments to the Supreme Court — are illegitimate as well. The scandal would trigger a constitutional crisis.

Following Mr. Obama’s surprise news conference last year, when he unveiled the long-form certificate, the media insisted that the controversy was settled once and for all. The “birthers” supposedly had been silenced. Mr. Arpaio’s report, however, changes that. The issue has been resuscitated — except in the eyes of the mainstream media.

A prominent sheriff says he has damning evidence that Mr. Obama probably lied to the public. The international media believes it’s a big deal; many Americans agree. They want to get to the bottom of it. Yet, the liberal hacks at the New York Times, the Washington Post, CNN and MSNBC can do nothing more than yawn.

Negroes With Guns

By Ann Coulter | April 18, 2012 | WND

Ann Coulter shares history of Dems keeping firearms out of the hand of blacks

Liberals have leapt on the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in Florida to push for the repeal of “stand your ground” laws and to demand tighter gun control. (MSNBC’S Karen Finney blamed “the same people who stymied gun regulation at every point.”)

This would be like demanding more funding for the General Services Administration after seeing how its employees blew taxpayer money on a party weekend in Las Vegas.

We don’t know the facts yet, but let’s assume the conclusion MSNBC is leaping to is accurate: George Zimmerman stalked a small black child and murdered him in cold blood, just because he was black.

If that were true, every black person in America should get a gun and join the National Rifle Association, America’s oldest and most august civil rights organization.

Apparently this has occurred to no one because our excellent public education system ensures that no American under the age of 60 has the slightest notion of this country’s history.

Gun control laws were originally promulgated by Democrats to keep guns out of the hands of blacks. This allowed the Democratic policy of slavery to proceed with fewer bumps and, after the Civil War, allowed the Democratic Ku Klux Klan to menace and murder black Americans with little resistance.

(Contrary to what illiterates believe, the KKK was an outgrowth of the Democratic Party, with overlapping membership rolls. The Klan was to the Democrats what the American Civil Liberties Union is today: Not every Democrat is an ACLU’er, but every ACLU’er is a Democrat. Same with the Klan.)

In 1640, the very first gun control law ever enacted on these shores was passed in Virginia. It provided that blacks – even freemen – could not own guns.

Chief Justice Roger Taney’s infamous opinion in Dred Scott v. Sandford circularly argued that blacks could not be citizens because if they were citizens, they would have the right to own guns: “[I]t would give them the full liberty,” he said, “to keep and carry arms wherever they went.”

With logic like that, Republicans eventually had to fight a Civil War to get the Democrats to give up slavery.

Alas, they were Democrats, so they cheated.

Exclusive: How the MSM Covered up Fast and Furious

By Ben Shapiro | April 16, 2012 | Breitbart

In Katie Pavlich’s devastating new expose of the Eric Holder Justice Department-approved Fast and Furious operation, Pavlich doesn’t just expose the Obama administration. She exposes the mainstream media for what they are: tools of the Democratic Party, and of the White House.

As Pavlich recounts, the first mainstream media outlet to report on Fast and Furious was CBS Evening News, which aired a report by Sharyl Attkinson. She stated that the scandal itself was so awful that “some insiders say it surpasses the shoot-out at Ruby Ridge and the deadly siege at Waco.” She pointed out that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had been pushing through the sale of guns to Mexican drug cartels, and that gun shops had even tried “to stop the questionable sales, but ATF encouraged them to continue.”

When the Obama administration saw Attkinson’s report, they reacted with utter fury. Officials from the administration screamed at her; as Pavlich reports, Justice Department communications director Tracy Schmaler called her up to yell at her. White House spokesman Eric Schultz “reportedly directed a barrage of expletives toward her.” Attkinson said that the White House and Justice Department labeled her “not reasonable” – as opposed to other press outlets.

From their perspective, that was correct – Attkinson wasn’t reasonable because she wasn’t parroting the party line. The rest of the media, however, was only too happy to do so. As Pavlich writes, “The New York Times and Washington Post weren’t just ‘reasonable,’ they seemed to act as press officers for the Obama administration.”

‘A Struggle Ensued’: Lynch Mob Justice In Florida

By Clarice Feldman | April 15, 2012 | American Thinker

From time to time the U.S. is engaged in its popular, charming pastime, following criminal cases. Once the special hobby of retirees who flooded the courthouses, since cable TV and the Internet, anyone can participate in these modern versions of morality plays.  The latest episode is the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman one, a story that shows how a media rife with malpractice and incompetence, a black grievance industry supported by a corrupt Attorney General , and a special prosecutor in a difficult re-election fight can twist facts and put to jeopardy a man already cleared of wrongdoing despite the lack of persuasive, dispositive new evidence sufficient to meet the  state’s burden of overcoming a claim of self-defense.

A.  Media Malpractice

American Thinker has already published a short course on how media malpractice turned an ordinary, everyday incident into a nationwide racial dispute.

More detailed day by day breakdowns of the media’s manipulation of the facts in the case, were made by Tom Maguire on Just One Minute. Here are some of the running accounts:

NBC and MSNBC were the worst offenders, but no major news outlet was spared the ignominy of sloppy reporting, sometimes followed by subtle, unannounced corrections of the record, and often simply perpetuating the false accounts  when the facts they reported were proven untrue.

Here’s a typical analysis by Tom  based on a video NBC and MSNBC played of George Zimmerman’s appearance at the Sanford, Florida police department soon after the shooting:

If NBC’s non-investigation of five appearances of the bogus Zimmerman 911 edit isn’t enough, let’s poke at this mystery – what “enhanced” police video did MSNBC air last month, what did it really show, and where is it now?

Bob Somerby of the Daily Howler called this out on April 4 but we can illustrate it with a screenshots.  Over to Bob:

Last Thursday afternoon, MSNBC played videotape of Zimmerman’s apparent injuries which was much more “enhanced,” much more clear. See THE DAILY HOWLER, 3/30/12.

Martin Bashir referred to this tape as “an extended and newly released surveillance video” which showed “new angles, never seen before, of George Zimmerman being brought into the Sanford police station.” This suggested that MSNBC had received a second tape from the Sanford police video system-that this was not the same old tape others had aired before.

Bashir’s tape did provide a much clearer look at the back of Zimmerman’s head. It seemed to show a rather large goose-egg style bump on the back of his head, with a rather clear abrasion atop it.

This tape is much more “enhanced” than the ABC tape. And it has now disappeared.

He linked to a March 30 post which included this:

What videos does NBC have in its archives, and which are authentic?  Inquiring minds want to know.

At Sharpton Event, Girls Grill Hip-Hop Radio CEO: You ‘Play Music That Degrades Us,’ Dumbs Us Down, ‘Just To Make Money?’

By Penny Starr | April 13, 2012 | CNS News

(CNSNews.com) – Two young ladies who are leaders in youth groups for Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network (NAN) grilled a radio executive about his lucrative hip hop music programming, asking whether it was any different than drug dealers making money and why would the executive promote material that “degrades us and dumbs our African American people down just to make money?” [VIDEO]

At the NAN convention in Washington, D.C., a panel discussion was held entitled “Media Race” that was led by MSNBC’s Rev. Al Sharpton, who founded NAN, and included Alfred C. Liggins III, the CEO of Radio One, the seventh largest radio network in the United States.

During his remarks, Liggins said, “I get a lot of heat for 93.9, WKYS, which plays a whole bunch of hip hop, some of it viewed as questionable, and in Houston in particular, recently, I got a lot of heat from the community because we took a gospel station off the air – we put an all-news station, general market all-news station on the air so I thought,  and there was no all-news station, there was only right-wing news talk radio Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity … but the community reared-up and used it as an opportunity to attack our hip-hop station and wanted me to change the music and play positive hip hop and things of that nature. … That radio station by the way, the hip hop station, is the number one station in the market, and we make a lot of money with it.”

Living Like A Liberal

BY Matt Labash | July 19, 2010 | The Weekly Standard

It’s hard work, politicizing your whole life.

This is a story about living the good life. Or not the good life, exactly, in the Italian, dolce vita understanding of the term. It’s more about living the better life, a comparative way of living. It’s about living better than I was before, living better than I once thought possible, living better, if you’ll forgive my candor, than do you.

Here, I use “you” to loosely mean “conservative” or even “disengaged liberal.” For living better than you is all about honesty. Honesty with you. Honesty with myself. So I’ll just level with the two of us: I used to be a conservative. I mean, I wasn’t some nutcake conservative. I didn’t follow along with Glenn Beck at home, flowcharting the lineage of Lenin to Van Jones on my kids’ Fisher-Price chalkboard. I didn’t attend Rand Paul rallies in a tricorn and a frilly blouse like some kind of colonial crossdresser. I was just a vanilla, middle-of-the-road conservative. As long as I remained undertaxed, overdefended, and unaborted, I was pretty content. Live and let live, I thought. I might have even made a good Libertarian, except I hate science fiction, think Ayn Rand was a crank with an unfortunate haircut, and would fail the house drug test (when my results came back negative).

But my lesser living was a lifetime ago. Actually, just a few weeks ago, but it feels like the distant past. It was before my road to Damascus encounter, before the illuminative flame touched my torch of enlightenment. It was B.J.K.—Before Justin Krebs.

Who is Justin Krebs, you ask? Only my sensei. My guru. The man who made plain that I had politics all wrong. I used to think along the lines of the British writer and publisher Ernest Benn that politics was “the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedy.” Thus, I had put my politics in my political box, and my life in my living box. When I should’ve placed all the contents in the same box—a much bigger, biodegradable one. (You can get them at Treecycle.com.)

Krebs showed me that my politics shouldn’t be just my politics, but also my religion, my sun and moon, my inhalation and exhalation. Since politics, particularly liberal politics, bring people so much joy, wouldn’t I be better off politicizing everything—the way I live and work and play? That’s a rhetorical question, by the way. The answer is a resounding “yes,” as evidenced right there in the title of Krebs’s new book: 538 Ways to Live Work and Play Like a Liberal.

The 32-year-old Krebs didn’t just write this book, which comes complete with a 538-item checklist. He’s lived it. He sharpened his liberal-living iron on the mean conservative streets of Highland Park, New Jersey; Cambridge, Massachusetts; and, finally, that repository of red state madness, the island of Manhattan. Girding him for battle were his parents—two good liberals, who sent him to a cooperative preschool, where he called all the other kids’ moms and dads by their first names. Krebs says his parents were his “playmates” as well, though all was not idyllic. There are some intimations of child abuse; they took him to a Walter Mondale rally when he was just 6 years old.

Upon graduating from Harvard, Krebs had his liberal ticket punched repeatedly. He served in the office of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. He blogs on the progressive blog OpenLeft. He is one of the founding directors of The Tank, “a non-profit arts presenter in the heart of Manhattan.” But his enduring legacy, his gift to all of us really, was hatched over a pitcher of beer.

Seven years ago, like many a good liberal, Krebs and his friends were driven to drink by the “arrogance and authoritarianism of the Bush administration.” What started as an informal vinegar session in a Hell’s Kitchen dive was formalized into a “Drinking Liberally” club, which met every Thursday, a place for activist types to talk progressive politics, network, plot strategy, and get hooched up (though its organizers remind us, “As you drink liberally, always drink responsibly”). As the club gained more members, it begat chapters nationwide and led to offshoot Eating Liberally clubs for foodies, Screening Liberally clubs for film buffs, Reading Liberally clubs for bookworms, and Laughing Liberally clubs that use “humor and laughter to spread understanding of liberal ideas and advance progressive values.” (Sounds like a scream!)

There are now 330 Living Liberally chapters in 50 states and around the globe. It’s no longer just a few longhairs knocking back pitchers of cheap suds, bitching about the Patriot Act. Living Liberally has become a way of life. There’s even a Liberal Card, a membership card which is “about showing your liberal pride, joining the liberal community and claiming your liberal discounts.” It’s printed on renewable green “CornCards,” rather than the petroleum that is blackening not only the brown pelicans of the Louisiana marshlands, but also our souls.

As Krebs writes, Drinking Liberally “has never been about drinking .  .  . it’s about progressive politics in a social setting.” It’s about all of us being “in this together.” It’s not just about “how you vote on Election Day.” It’s about “how you vote with your wallet every day.” It’s not just about “what you chant at a rally, but what you laugh at or rock out to on your iPod.” It’s about saying “it’s about” a lot, and then saying something real meaningful afterwards. Like this: “Living like a liberal is never just about making politics personal, but about making personal politics public.” It’s about alliteration.

I’m just going to be honest again: All this alliteration wet my whistle (see, it’s catching). I wanted to find out what it was all about. Krebs’s book was due for release on July 4, the day we gained our independence as a country. But I was ready to gain my own independence as an individual—independence from this disengaged, right-leaning, but mostly apolitical way of life I’d been enslaved by. So I secured an early copy.

The 538-item checklist was daunting. As Krebs admits, “Some of the ideas are hard, or even uncomfortable. You don’t have to do them all. Just think about them.” So I did. For roughly 10 days, I thought about them and undertook a good many of them. There was no way I could tackle them all. But it was clear that if I wanted to gain my independence by Independence Day by biting off a representative sample, I’d still be busier than a one-legged Obama in an ass-kicking contest. Time to get to work.

Double Standard: Black Men Named Trayvon Get Killed all the Time [Video]

The Left is Losing the Media Wars

By Thomas Lifson | April 7, 2012 | American Thinker

The leftist media overstructure — the network of committed individuals and institutions that keep the media narrative congruent with the goals of the left — is starting to self-destruct, devouring itself with headstrong recklessness, ego, and inability to understand the strength of conservatives and their ideas.

The left is taking serious casualties in the Zimmerman affair. Two lefty media operatives lost their jobs, we learned late Friday afternoon.Heads are rolling in the wake of failed attempts to politicize the death of Trayvon Martin. At NBC, a producer has been fired.  And now Media Matters senior analyst M.J. Rosenberg, having humiliated the organization, is leaving the Soros-funded media bully outfit.

Foxnews.com reports:

MJ Rosenberg, who also got into hot water for mistakenly accusing the Drudge Report website of racism in coverage of the Trayvon Martin case, announced Friday on the Media Matters website that he was “striking out on my own with a brand new website and blog.”

“My presence here is being used in an effort to shut Media Matters up,” Rosenberg said in announcing he will be creating a new site, MJayRosenberg.com.

Both announcements were timed to be buried during a big holiday weekend, in a futile attempt to limit the damage to NBC and MMFA.  See Rick Moran’s account today of NBC’s bungled attempt to evade responsible for a deliberate political hit here. They have a lot at stake, including a potential lawsuit for defamation, in an indefensible edit being accidental, despite layers of checking and counter-checking built into their editorial structure.
