When Obama first came out against gay marriage, he was doing it to pander to voters. Now that he came out for gay marriage, he was pandering to a different set of voters. A small set with deep pockets who needed a reason to cheer him and donate to him.

No matter how many rainbow halos Newsweek sticks around his photoshopped head, there is no escaping the inescapable conclusion that Obama’s alternating opposition and support for two men holding hands in a Las Vegas chapel while an Elvis impersonator pronounces them man and man, has nothing to do with his ideals and everything to do with precise political calculations.

Liberal apologetics explain Obama’s decline as the woes of a naive idealistic lad, another Mr. Smith who spends too much time stuttering and playing golf, to be able to properly explain to America why it needs to get in touch with its inner liberal child. But if Obama had been that fellow, he would have given his Adam and Steve speech a few days into his administration, not after a few years and some heckling from gay rights advocates.

Why Wright Matters: Obama’s on a Mission from God

When Elwood retrieved his brother Jake from Joliet prison, the two went on a pilgrimage to their childhood Catholic orphanage.  Their pitiful orphanage was under siege from Chicago’s infamously oppressive tax regime and was being put out of business.  For inspiration, the brothers were directed to a Chicago Baptist church.  The church was filled with laughter and love, song and dance, and miraculous divine inspiration that set the Blues Brothers on their own mission with a purpose: keep hope alive for Chicago orphans by paying off the corrupt Chicago regime.

The movie rendition of an all-black Baptist church led by the charismatic James Brown preacher, thrilling his flock with high-spirited love and devotion, is what gave The Blues Brothers soul.  This was what America imagined successful, loving black churches in Chicago looked like.  No wonder, then, that Reverend Wright’s scream for God to damn America is so jarring even to this day.

Why So Many Americans Still Don’t Know Much of Anything About Barack Obama

RUSH: You know, this Reverend Wright stuff with Barack Obama, it’s back in the news again. Something is happening.  It’s anecdotal, but I happen to think that this might be applicable in a statistical way to the nation at large.  We played the audio sound bite from Obama reading from one of his books a couple of weeks ago, in which he admitted bullying a young girl, in which he admitted trying cocaine, admitted that he drank a lot, basically just lollygagged around.  I know we’ve got new listeners to this program.  It’s been documented by the official ratings companies that monitor such things.

There are tons and tons of new listeners, but even at that, I’m overwhelmed by the number of people — we’re three-and-a-half years into his regime, and I’m getting e-mails from people that the first time they’d heard he’d done cocaine was in the past two, three weeks.  The first time they’d heard that he had bullied a young girl. They didn’t know his college transcripts hadn’t been released.  They just assumed all that had happened and they missed it. They didn’t know any of this.

Enviro-Idiots: Two Earths Needed by 2030

RUSH: I have here, ladies and gentlemen, a full-fledged story at the Huffing and Puffington Post: “WWF Living Planet Report Warns That By 2030 Two Earths Will Be Needed To Sustain Our Lifestyles.” There is a single reason that they give this warning.  And while I read this I want you to ponder what that single reason might be.  Why might we need two earths by 2030?  That’s just 18 years from now.

“Humans will need two Earths to support our lifestyles by 2030 because we are draining the world’s resources so quickly, a new report has warned.  Produced by the World Wildlife Fund, the Zoological Society of London, the Global Footprint Network and the European Space Agency, the 2012 Living Planet Report measures humans’ ecological footprint on the planet. At the moment, the picture is bleak, according to Jim Leape, Director General of WWF International, with resources being drained 50 per cent faster than they can be replenished. He said: ‘We’re all familiar with the stories of what we’re doing to Planet Earth, the ways in which we’re changing the climate, depleting the world’s fisheries, destroying the world’s forests.'”

None of that’s true.  There is more forest area in this country than at the time of the founding.  Each time that stat is mentioned, the left goes nuts.  But here we get to the real reason this is happening.  Mr. Leape, Jim Leape, director general, WWF International, says, “The starting point for reducing our impact on the planet is to end our love affair with fossil fuels — ‘the energy technology of the 20th century’ — and switch to renewable energy.” That shift alone will make a huge difference on our footprint on the planet.  So once again an all-out assault on fossil fuels and oil.  You know, it could be argued — no, I don’t think it is arguable.  Life on earth has never been better, has it?  For more people on earth, life has never been better.  It’s never been more full of opportunity. It’s under assault, of course, but the life expectancy, medicines, never been better.  This is typical bunk.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I want to beg your indulgence for just for a second.  I kind of glossed over this story that’s on the Huffing and Puffington Post from the World Wildlife Fund. I want to go back to it for just a couple of points.  And I want you to stop when I read this opening sentence.  I want you to realize that the people behind this are dead serious.  “Humans will need two Earths to support our lifestyles [in 18 years] because we are draining the world’s resources so quickly,” according to a new report.

Now, to you and I, this is pure bunk.  It’s insane.  But college professors, high school teachers all over the country will likely pick this up, and it will become part of the daily lesson plan.  It will be added to, just like Lexis and Nexis is a massive database of news stories, and whatever is published today on AP, say about me, will end up in LexisNexis and will be there forever.  Lazy journalists will cite it, go back and look, “Oh, a story about Limbaugh?  What else is there.” They’ll find stuff that’s been in the database for 45 years and they’ll run it.  Same thing here.  Need two earths.  I want you to stop and think how literally ridiculous this is, but these people, and they are full-fledged liberals, leftists, whatever, they mean it.

It is another in a never ending series of crises that the people of this country are inundated with practically every day now in the media.  Now we’re going to need two earths.  It’s all about climate change. It’s all about global warming. It’s all about our sinful, unacceptable use of oil and fossil fuels.  We are destroying the planet. We are using up this planet’s resources so quickly we’re gonna need two planets to handle our needs.  These predictions have been made for over a hundred years, that we’re running out of resources, that we’re gonna deplete the world of natural resources, minerals, food, and none of it has ever been true.  None of it.

They have a statistic in this story that is just patently ridiculous.  We are using 50% more resources than the earth can provide.  That is not possible.  If the earth can’t provide the resources, how can we use them?  The simple fact of the matter is, the earth is providing the resources.  Paul Ehrlich back in the seventies predicted that by now there would be war, pestilence, famine because of too many billions of people.  We have shot past his prediction.  We have not run out of anything.  We continue to produce enough and more for what everybody needs.  Look at the growing countries of China and India.  Without getting into why, their economies are growing.  People there are buying cars.  They’re driving cars.  They’re buying gasoline.  They’re not having any problem finding gasoline.  If they can afford it, it’s available.  We’re not running out.

Whatever the demands, economic or otherwise, lifestyle, they are met, be it food or what have you.  Now, you might be able to go to a country and say people are starving, but that’s not because the earth is being depleted.  That’s because there’s a dictatorship likely starving his people in order to maintain power.  Or you have a socialist or communist government which has no idea how to create wealth and doesn’t really want to.  The only thing in short supply in the world is capitalism.  We have an unequal, unfair distribution of capitalism.  There simply isn’t enough of it.  There’s way too much socialism in the world.  There’s way too much Marxism.  There’s way too much communism.  There is way too much dictatorship, which, by the way, is the way humanity, for the most part, has lived since we first began walking the earth.

Bill Clinton Undercuts Obama, Calls for Middle Class Tax Increase

RUSH: And our old buddy Bill Clinton, who, by the way, Bill Clinton’s back, and Bill Clinton’s back calling for tax increases on the middle class, ladies and gentlemen.  It’s right here in The Politico.

“Bill Clinton said Tuesday that President Barack Obama’s goal of hiking taxes on the rich alone is not enough to solve the country’s fiscal woes and suggested that middle class Americans must also eventually contribute more.” (imitating Clinton) “Look, this is just me now.  I’m not speaking for the White House.  I think you could tax me, you know, Hillary and I, we’re rich now, and I think you could tax me at a hundred percent and you wouldn’t balance that old budget.  The fact of the matter is you could tax me, you could tax Limbaugh, you could tax O’Reilly, you could tax everybody out there, you could tax me and Hillary, and you still wouldn’t balance the budget.  We are all gonna have to contribute to this.  And if middle-class people’s wages were going up again, and we had some growth in the economy, I don’t think they would object to going back to tax rates of when I was president.”

Now, is this guy doing Obama any favors here?  Bill Clinton comes out, calls for tax increases on the middle class.  Let’s take the rates back to when he was president.  I mean what is Obama doing?  Obama’s out there on this class envy tour trying to make everybody believe that the reason we have an economic problem is because we have rich people in the first place.  The second thing is, to solve it we’ve gotta tax ’em, we gotta tax that 1%.  They are the problem.

Here comes our old buddy Bill Clinton. (imitating Clinton) “Well, you know, this is just me speaking.  I mean, I’m not speaking for the White House, but I’m telling you, you could tax me, you could take everything I’ve got and that’s not gonna balance the budget. You can tax all the rich people I know, you could tax Harvey Weinstein, you could tax Spielberg, every one of these people. You could tax Will Smith and you’re still not gonna balance the budget.” I mean, that is the exact opposite message Obama wants, is it not?

And then to close it out by saying, “I think the middle class, if they had some income, they wouldn’t object to paying taxes.”  If they had some income.  If we had some growth to the economy, the middle class wouldn’t mind. Obama’s out there trying to tell the middle class they’re not gonna pay anything.  They’re gonna get and get.  They’re gonna have nothing but benefits.  That’s Obama’s message.  Here comes old Bill.  “Hey, you can tax me all you want, ain’t gonna close the budget.”  In other words, “You know what?  Obama doesn’t know what he’s talking about.  He’s telling you that he can raise taxes on the rich, but it ain’t gonna fix the budget.  He’s gonna have to raise taxes on you.” The thing is, Clinton’s more right than he’s wrong here.  That’s the irony here is that Clinton’s exactly right. You could take everything the rich have and you wouldn’t balance the budget, ever, and if you took everything the rich have, you can only do it once.  By definition, they’ve got no more.

“Yes, Mr. Limbaugh, but they will earn it next year.” Why, Mr. New Castrati, if you take everything they’ve got, why go earn any more of it if it’s all gonna be taken?  You can only take it one time.  Still don’t balance the budget. We gotta raise taxes on the middle class.  And we got it in Ed Klein’s book, Bill wants Hillary to run for president.  He wants Hillary back in there. He wants back in there.  The Politico says here, “The former president’s remarks about his own tax rate seemed to be a reference to Obama’s ‘Buffett Rule,’ which proposes higher taxes for the wealthiest Americans. Clinton asserted that when he was at the White House, ‘very few people’ thought they were being overtaxed.” (laughing)  I know it’s absolutely ridiculous. Clinton is the one who called Obama an amateur, and that’s
the title of Klein’s book.

It was Clinton that called Obama an amateur.  So now he’s out there attacking the Buffett Rule. He’s attacking Obama’s class envy.  He’s telling the middle class that he knows that they wouldn’t object to a tax increase if they had any income.  Clinton said, “Look, we can’t be in a position here where one of the negotiating partners says that that’s not negotiable. I mean, not only will we not raise taxes, we want the Bush tax cuts and we want more tax cuts and we want the right to disregard what the CBO says our budget — you can’t do that.  It’s hard to have a deal if there’s no arbiter.”  Looks to me like — and of course, I could be wrong — it looks to me like Clinton seems to differ on just about every Obama policy.  And yet he’s out there campaigning for him. We got Clinton saying this.  Of course you don’t need to hear Clinton say it; you just heard me do it.

Why the Left Dropped the Trayvon Story

RUSH: Developments in the Trayvon Martin case, and you’d be hard-pressed to find these developments out there.  There have been two dramatic developments in the Trayvon Martin shooting case.  According to ABC News, George Zimmerman’s family doctor saw him the morning after the shooting of Trayvon Martin.  Here’s what George Zimmerman’s doctor found: A broken nose, two black eyes, bruises on his face and lip, two cuts on the back of his head, and a back injury.

The NBC affiliate in Florida is reporting that the medical director who performed the autopsy on Trayvon Martin found only two injuries on his body:  the gunshot wound and broken skin on his knuckles.  Welcome to the Duke lacrosse case all over again.  Everything Zimmerman said about what happened to him turns out to be true after the media trying to cast him along with the civil rights coalitions of this country, the race-baiters, as abject lies. (interruption) What do you mean, not rush to judgment?  It’s been two months.  I’m not speculating.  I’m telling you what the doctor said.  There’s no speculation going on.  The doctor is not speculating.  The doctor did the exam the day after the incident happened.  It’s all been suppressed.  Nobody’s reported it.  That’s the point.  And there wasn’t even any media curiosity about it.

Now, I’m not a forensic scientist, and I don’t guess on matters like this. I don’t have to guess; the facts are here.  It’s kind of hard not to connect the dots.  Now, all of this information is coming out.  You know why it’s coming out?  Because we’re in the discovery phase of the Zimmerman trial, where each side has to show the other side what evidence they have.  But you really have to wonder here, folks, why none of this came out before in the prosecutor’s charging affidavit.  Can we go back to that?  The charging affidavit, which, remember Dershowitz at Harvard said it was an embarrassment that wouldn’t survive the first inspection by a judge, but it did.  But he said it was pathetic, it was unprofessional.

I happened to report what Dershowitz said and my own affiliate in Jacksonville called the attorney’s office, “What do you think about what Limbaugh said about your charging document?”  None of this is in the charging document, or the affidavit.  I thought that the state was obligated, or obliged, anyway, to provide all the relevant details in a case to the judge, but apparently I was mistaken.  But, anyway, as I said, ladies and gentlemen, the news media seem to be ignoring these developments.  I mean they’re out there, touched on a little bit by ABC.  But the news that I just gave you has barely been mentioned on the cable news channels.  I don’t watch it, but I’m told that MSNBC only got around to reporting this about an hour ago, and they ran a banner at the bottom of the screen that said, “Proof of self-defense?  Trayvon Martin family lawyer calls medical report suspicious.”

So the doctor puts out a report, Zimmerman’s doctor, and now MSNBC is saying he might be a liar.  And they have to because they gotta cover their own rear ends the way they reported this. (interruption) I don’t know if Zimmerman’s doctor is a white Hispanic, Mr. Snerdley.  But you really have to wonder here when the news media began to lose interest in the Trayvon Martin story, ’cause you know they did.  They lost interest.  They were going 150 miles an hour on this story, and then all of a sudden they dropped it like a hot potato, and you have to wonder why they did that.  Was it when they found out that George Zimmerman is actually Hispanic and a Democrat to boot?  Was it when Trayvon Martin’s gangsta-like tweets surfaced along with the more recent photos of him with his gold teeth?  Maybe the news media is just afraid of whipping up racial… no, they do like to whip up racial strife.  But they didn’t even proceed under that rubric.  They just dropped this case like a hot potato.

The Obama-Romney Doggy Wars

Last week the Washington Post ran a piece on presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney’s high-school years, in which he supposedly was cruel to a shy, perhaps gay fellow student. The piece, mirabile dictu, appeared in the middle of the Biden-Obama reversal on gay marriage. Errors were spotted almost as soon as it was published, and the essay was summarily denounced as nonfactual by the family of the supposed victim of Romney’s supposed half-century-old callousness.

Of more interest was the reaction to the story. Aside from Romney’s gracious acknowledgment that he might have done something in his teens that he was not proud of (although he could not remember the Post’s hazing incident), and aside from the errors of fact pointed out in the Post story, apparent Romney supporters hit back hard — and in equally trivial fashion. If Romney was an insensitive preppie, well then, so was Obama — and for the matter, we had the punkish young Joe Biden. Almost immediately, all over the Internet, Obama’s own voice was heard reading from Dreams from My Father about his ancient drug use while in prep school, and about earlier unkind treatment of a middle-school girl chum. If high school is fair game in these doggy wars, then why not seventh and eighth grade?

For a year, we had heard from the liberal media the old tale of Seamus the dog, as a sort of Aesop’s fable warning about Mitt Romney’s innate cruelty. You see, on a family vacation, Romney in purportedly callous fashion put the family dog, Seamus, into a custom carrier on top of the family car. Forget about America borrowing $5 trillion in three years; worry instead about a dog on a car roof three decades ago.But after yet another serial telling, suddenly the Romney supporters fought back: If Romney had confessed to putting the dog out like a masthead to the winds, Obama in his memoirs confessed to eating dogs! In short order, the Internet was flooded with Photoshopped images of cynophagia — as Obama munched on dachshund sandwiches and terrier burgers. I guess the point was that Americans would prefer putting Spot on top of the car to eating him.

The same trump had earlier happened with the “war against women.” Team Obama saw an opening with Rush Limbaugh’s crude “slut” putdown of Sandra Fluke — for which he later apologized — and attempted to inflate the slur as something emblematic of right-wing misogyny. But again it was not to be.

Limbaugh apologized; Limbaugh did not give money to the Romney campaign and indeed opposed his nomination in the primaries; and Limbaugh’s slur at least could be printed in family newspapers — in contrast to liberal Bill Maher’s. The latter’s profanity-laced and misogynistic sick rants against conservative women could not be quoted without dashes and asterisks. He never apologized. And he gave the Obama campaign $1 million in contributions. The desperate comeback of Democratic consultant Hilary Rosen that Ann Romney — a cancer and MS survivor and mother of five — had “never worked” (a point the odious Maher seconded) only made things worse, before this chapter of the doggy war was apparently called off by those who started it.

There have been more of these tit-for-tit, na-na na-na na-na doggy wars — with charges ranging from patrimonial polygamy to prep-school privilege — but you get the picture. So what can we learn from them, aside from the obvious fact that Barack Obama prefers not to talk about 40 months of 8 percent–plus unemployment, 1.7 percent GDP growth, $5 trillion in new debt, $4-a-gallon gas, and Obamacare?

Team Obama usually starts the exchange, either to distract from dismal economic news, or in zeal to portray Romney as aristocratic and out of touch — but without careful thinking about what the inevitable Romney rebuttal might look like.

The Romney people apparently will not run a repeat of McCain’s 2008 campaign, in which the candidate put such petty retaliation off limits. There will be no sanctimonious putdowns from Romney about dredging up Obama’s dog-eating past, in the manner in which McCain lectured his supporters about the inappropriateness of emphasizing the tripartite name Barack Hussein Obama — although Obama himself did, and would go on to focus on his middle name as proof of his multicultural resonance abroad. Just as Bill Clinton’s war room swore not to do a rerun of Mike Dukakis’s punching-bag 1988 campaign, so Romney apparently has determined not to repeat the McCain one-hand-tied-behind-the-back model.

In other words, each time we hear of an irrelevant hit on Romney, we will probably hear of something equally irrelevant — and worse — about Obama, in a way we never would have in 2008. Petty? A distraction from the failing economy? Of course, but the Romney people apparently believe that they must and will achieve deterrence by replying in kind and to such a degree that Team Obama will soon cease playing such a childish game of taunts.

War on Women? Poll Shows Romney Leads Obama Among Female Voters

RUSH: The New York Times/CBS poll is so bad for Obama.  They are really worried in the White House, and it’s not new.  They have been worried for a long time.  This is not the first CBS/New York Times poll that has bad news for Obama.  People have forgotten, two months ago, on the same day, the Washington Post and New York Times both came out with polls, and Obama was at 41% approval in one of them, and he was not doing well with women I think in the Washington Post poll two months ago.  And this was right in the middle of the contrived War on Women.  And it wasn’t working.

The gay marriage thing isn’t working.  Just 7% of the American people, of likely voters, see gay marriage as a top issue in November.  He’s raising money with it, but he’s not garnering support.  He’s losing support over this.  He’s losing support everywhere.  There is serious talk now about getting Biden off the ticket and replacing him.  The reelect campaign is not at all going the way the professionals, the Obama administration thought it was going to go.  And there is genuine discord and upset within all levels of the campaign.  Now, you’re starting to see in various places in the Drive-By Media, they can’t hide this anymore, they can’t even paper over it very well.In fact, the New York Times story today on their own poll is so bad that the White House is saying it’s biased, that the sample is not correct.  The White House is ripping their own House organ poll today.  If the New York Times poll is as bad as they’re reporting, the odds are it’s much worse than that.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: You talk about campaign problems.  Obama has had two times the number of fundraisers that George Bush had at this time, and he didn’t raise anywhere near as much money.  Obama has done twice the fundraisers as the hated and the reviled George W. Bush, and he hasn’t raised anywhere near as much money as Bush has.  Now, today’s New York Times/CBS poll is bad.  But there’s something in it that even CBS and the New York Times are burying.  It turns out buried in the numbers is the fact not only is Romney ahead of Obama by three points across the board — oh.  Let me interrupt myself.  I don’t have it in front of me.  I forget where I saw it.  It was over the weekend.  I’ve been cramming show prep. I didn’t get any done yesterday. I was up until three in the morning when I got home last night prepping the program today, and I can’t remember where I saw this, but it was an Electoral College tabulation with Romney over 300 electoral votes, as it looks now.

Now, it’s the only place I’ve seen that, and I can’t recall where it was.  It’s an analysis of current polling data.  It’s not somebody’s wild guess; it’s not somebody’s expressed hope.  But it is right along the lines what Dick Morris is saying that Romney could win in a landslide.  I have said that I think it’s possible that Romney could win big just using common sense and looking at how everything is falling apart for Obama.  I’ll go through a list of some things here in just a second that will remind you just how bad things are for Obama.  But in this New York Times poll, which the Obama White House now says is biased, Romney is up by three.  But if you dig deep, buried in the numbers that the New York Times/CBS doesn’t report, Romney is leading Obama among women 49-43, after the contrived War on Women, after the contrived Sandra Fluke thing, after all of these efforts that have been expended to make Obama look like the first female president, the first gay president, the first Jewish president, and they’re doing all of that, by the way.

Obama Voters Losing Jobless Benefits Due to the Manipulation of Workforce Numbers

RUSH: Michael in Momence, Illinois.  Great to have you on the EIB Network.  Hello.

CALLER:  Thanks a lot, Rush, first-time caller.  I’m calling because I was at the unemployment office just yesterday, and they have tables there where people fill out the paperwork that they have —

RUSH:  Wait, wait, wait whoa, whoa, whoa, just a second.  I need you to go slow here.

CALLER:  Okay.

RUSH:  Why were you at the unemployment office?  It may seem like an obvious question, but I want to know, why were you at the unemployment office?

CALLER:  I was filing for benefits.

RUSH:  Filing for unemployment benefits.  Okay.

CALLER:  Yes.

RUSH:  Then you said on the tables…

CALLER:  They had tables set out for people to fill out paperwork.

RUSH:  Okay.

CALLER:  All right.  On this table was a few copies of a news release, as it said across the top of the paper, and what the news release was saying was:  Due to the lowering of the unemployment rate and the improving economy, that federal extensions for unemployment benefits were being canceled.  So it’s not 99 weeks anymore.

RUSH:  Well, this was in Momence, Illinois?

CALLER:  Kankakee County office.

RUSH:  Kankakee County.  So you went in there —

CALLER:  Yeah.

RUSH:  — and they’re touting the economy roaring back so much, unemployment rate has gone down, the economy is improving, so federal extensions for unemployment benefits are being canceled?

CALLER:  That’s correct.

RUSH:  I had not heard that.

CALLER:  That was news to me as well.

RUSH:  Well, but was there anything in this about 99 weeks, or are you just saying that because you know it’s 99 weeks that’s the max?

CALLER:  Well, actually my brother’s well below his 99 weeks. He called to verify and he said he’s gonna be kicked off as of next week.

RUSH:  Even before he reaches his 99 weeks?

CALLER:  Yeah, 99 weeks doesn’t mean anything anymore.

RUSH:  I have not heard this anywhere. Have you heard this anywhere, that people are just being told the economy is doing so well and unemployment is going up or down, employment’s going up, that your benefits are being canceled?

CALLER:  Not mine personally yet, but that’s what’s going on.

RUSH:  Well, but you’re just starting.  Illinois’s unemployment rate hasn’t gone down. Illinois’s unemployment rate is skyrocketing.

CALLER:  Well, apparently they seem to think it’s pretty good.

RUSH:  Well.  This doesn’t make any sense.

CALLER:  Well, Rush, here’s part of my question, is what happens to these people now that they’re shoved up the unemployment rolls?  Are these people being counted?

RUSH:  That’s why this doesn’t make any sense.  In an election year, you add people to the unemployment rolls.  You take care of ’em. You extend their benefits. You make sure they know you’re doing — this makes no sense.  This is like a Romney prank.

CALLER:  You know what you probably could do, and maybe your staff could do it, maybe go to the Illinois unemployment website and click on news releases.  They do release news on the website.

RUSH:  Well, I’ll assign one of the 55 people doing research to that.  Snerdley is asking me, “Could this be how they’re lowering the numbers?”  Am I the only one that sees this?  Again, I ask that question.  Okay, here are the two possibilities on the table.  Michael, I was joking about the 55 people doing research.  I was being very, very facetious.  Thanks for the call.  Here’s what we have.  A guy goes in to the Illinois unemployment office in Kankakee County.  News releases all over the tables where you fill out your forms: Because the unemployment rate is coming down and the economy is recovering, unemployment benefits are being canceled.

The only thing not said on the release is, “Get a job.”  I don’t know what canceled means. They’re not canceling everybody’s benefits.  That I know.  But it’s just what this guy saw.  So here are the two possibilities on the table.  Snerdley’s theory is that this is how they’re getting the unemployment rate down.  Okay, the benefit of that is what?  The unemployment rate going down, millions and millions and millions of Americans unemployed, who else is gonna see this?  The only people that are gonna see this are people going to the unemployment office.  Why do you go to unemployment office?  To get your bennies.  To get your benefits.

You walk in to get your benefits. You read a news release that says: Sorry, you’re out of luck, get a job.  This is how we’re lowering the unemployment rate. And this lowering the unemployment rate is gonna redound to Obama by getting him more votes because we’re gonna spread the news the economy is recovering, unemployment’s going down, but nobody is gonna see that unless somebody from that office called here like just happened.  On the other hand, what is the real-world effect of this?  People who are on unemployment are in there, I’d say the majority of them are genuine, they’re not scamming the system.  Some are in there trying to scam it, happens, but most people are in there ’cause they’re out of work and they want some unemployment benefits.  They read something in there:  Sorry, the economy is getting so good, the unemployment rate is falling so much, that benefits are canceled, or extension benefits are canceled.

In an election year, Obama turning away voters?  I can’t believe this.  This is like a Republican trick.  If I didn’t know better I’d say Andrew Breitbart had been in the Kankakee County, Illinois, unemployment office.  I mean here you have hapless people with nowhere else to go, out of work, going in to sign up for unemployment and they read something from the regime that says, “No benefits, the economy is doing too good.”  In an election year you want as many people on unemployment benefits as possible.  You want dependents. You want people thanking you for making it possible they can eat.  Snerdley, you’re off the reservation. Snerdley is now suggesting this is how they’re getting rid of white working class.  They don’t know who’s gonna walk in there.  The news release doesn’t say: Only to be read if you’re white working class.  Doesn’t say that.  Everybody’s gonna see this.  According to the BLS, the Illinois unemployment rate is 8.1, so it is down.  This doesn’t make any sense.  And again, anybody can call here and say anything, but the guy sounded legit.

Eight West Virginia Counties Vote for Federal Inmate Over Obama in Dem Primary

RUSH: Democrats did turn out, however. Well, they didn’t turn out in Wisconsin. They didn’t turn out in North Carolina. But guess where they did turn out?Democrats turned out big time in West Virginia in the presidential primary to vote for an inmate. A federal prisoner, the Boyd Crowder of West Virginia. Federal inmate 11593-051. There’s a picture of the guy. Let me see if it’s still up. Let me check real quick. Yep, there’s a picture of the guy on Drudge, a picture of Inmate 11593-051. This is the guy that gave Obama a run for his money in West Virginia. Now, ask yourself this, folks. Why would Democrats in West Virginia vote for a federal inmate as opposed to a president, a sitting president in their own party?

Maybe it is something very simple, very common sense, and very explainable. Maybe it’s that the people of West Virginia realize that Barack Obama poses the biggest threat to their livelihood of anybody on the ballot this time around. With his attacks on the coal industry, with his attacks on the oil industry, with his attacks on natural gas, with his attacks on conventional energy, with his promotion of green energy shutting down all these jobs that exist in West Virginia.

And even now the media (as we’re doing, too, I will admit) is looking at the results yesterday: “What will be the effect on Obama?” How about this? Could we once look at what the effect be on the country will be? Because that’s what the people voting on voting on. Yes, it’s Obama that’s getting them out. There wasn’t a single, singular Republican leader on a ballot yesterday. You had Mourdock in Indiana and Scott Walker attracting votes, but there wasn’t a presidential candidate on the ballot yesterday.

There were ideas. Ideas were on ballots yesterday. Ideas are what triumphed. And it was conservative ideas that skunked socialist utopianism yesterday. So the Democrats don’t turn out in North Carolina. They don’t turn out in Wisconsin. But they do turn out in the Democrat primary in West Virginia. And in eight maybe more counties, they beat Obama with a federal inmate. If I didn’t know better, I would say there is a War on Obama being waged by the Democrats!

It certainly looks that way to me. It looks to me like Democrats in West Virginia want jobs. It would appear to me that Democrats in West Virginia want lower gasoline prices. They want higher home values. They want more disposable income. They don’t want people telling them what kind of light bulb they have to buy! They don’t want a bunch of nameless bureaucrats running around talking about “crucifying” energy executives. But you see, the Democrats in West Virginia figured out their president put a moratorium on drilling for oil in the Gulf and refused to okay the Keystone pipeline.

The American People are Fed Up

RUSH: Americans, ladies and gentlemen, are taking their country back — and they’re doing it one election at a time. As was evidenced in Wisconsin, Americans are not afraid of union goons. They’re not impressed with a “slow-jamming” Preezy. They aren’t intimidated by the media anymore. From reconfirming the meaning of marriage, to showing support for a great Wisconsin governor, to humiliating a sitting Democrat president with a huge turnout for a convicted felon, voters demonstrated that the power attributed to Barack Obama and the State-Controlled Media has been overestimated. Conventional wisdom was nuked yesterday.


Tea Party dead and Occupy Wall Street in the ascension? Obama a shoo-in reelection? In fact, the Beltway Republicans, the Republican establishment still think Obama is a shoo-in! They really do. I kid you not. They think… Maybe not a shoo-in now, but before yesterday, “Ah, Rush, don’t get your hopes up. He’s an incumbent. He’s got so much at his disposal,” and that could well be. But the people don’t want to hear that.

The people of this country are not going to allow themselves to be dispirited with phony polls and inaccurate reporting. They’re not gonna be influenced by photo-ops with George Clooney. Being $5 trillion in debt — new debt, given to us by Obama — trumps photo-ops with George Clooney. Years of 8.5% plus unemployment trumps the Preezy slow-jamming the news with Jimmy Fallon.

Out-of-work college graduates are snapping out of their hope and change trance, and they realize all they’re getting is insurmountable student loan debt, not jobs. Voters are continuing to tune out the Drive-By Media in greater numbers. They’re tuning in talk radio, the Internet, Fox News. The people of this country know what’s at stake. They know failure when they see it. They know disaster when they see it. And they know how to stop it.

And they fully intend to.


Last night was a significant aftershock of the 2010 electoral earthquake that rocked the Democrat Party. The Tea Party’s not dead. No, 2010 was a warm-up. The Tea Party’s moved on from a protest movement to an active, vibrant, grassroots movement that knows how to nominate the right people and then get them elected — and that is sending shivers of fear down the spines of professional Democrats, consultants, elected officials, and people in the media.

Democrats are voting against President Obama.

Democrats are distancing themselves from failure.

The cult of personality, the cult of celebrity that this White House has attempted to mine is being overwhelmed by the sting of reality. People’s homes having no value. People’s jobs are paying nothing. People are not able to get jobs. No economic growth. Moratoriums on drilling for oil. Roadblocks on pipelines that would bring oil, which would cheapen energy prices. Attacks on existing, conventional energy sources.

The American people want no part of it.

The American people don’t hate fossil fuels.

Barack Obama might, but the American people don’t, and he has not been able to convince them to. The American people are not going to settle for 8.1% unemployment. The American people aren’t going to settle for 7% unemployment. Vast majorities of the American people understand the greatness of this country. Vast majorities of the American people understand (and listen to me carefully here) that when this nation is on the right track, there’s none better.

When this nation is on the right track, there’s no end to opportunity.

When this nation is on the right track, there’s no end to prosperity.

Our economic and educational opportunity is better than anywhere in the world. But this country isn’t on track, and the American people know it, and they want it back on track. They don’t want this new direction. They don’t want this fundamental transformation of America. They don’t want a silly, impossible socialist utopia. They want reality. They want an acknowledgement of the greatness of this country, not somebody who’s embarrassed of it, or who doesn’t like it, or thinks it’s immoral or unjust.
